ATTENTION EUROFAGS!

Post by masteen »

Does Europe have many serial killers? Serious question. We seem to be generating both them and spree killers at a very alarming rate, but I've never heard much about that type of behavior over there.

Basically I'm wondering if our differing cultural norms regarding sex and violence carry over into the type of criminals we spawn.

"Up to 85 percent of the world's serial killers live in the United States..."

I remember seeing this quote. I do not remember source.

Why is this? Heres an interesting read. Im not saying I agree or disagree with it, buts its interesting.

let me guess, the Heritage Foundation does not think the answer to violence in our society is making it harder to buy a gun than it is to buy a beer.

Well, we had Jack the Ripper (5 victims as i recall), probably one of the more famous serial killers.

But apart from that, i dont think we rate that high. Personally i can only recall 1 danish case, some woman that overmedicated the elderly to kill them.

Although one of the most infamous serial killers, only 5 murders were attributed to him.

ive read somewhere that its a genetic thing...a small % of all human beings have the "serial killer" gene as a natural means of population control....obviously not everyone with the "serial killer gene" would act upon it, interesting theory though

A serial killer gene...

man that really goes against the whole idea of god and the 10 commandments, etc.

Mention a serial killer gene to a religious nut and they're liable to get in touch with their serial killer gene and serial kill you.

Just a thought.

Interesting idea, though.

Actually...there are some people who have killed several persons butthey don't have the name of "serial killers".

Atm, there is a trial in France of a guy who killed around 8 women, but the newspapper are not really speaking of serial killer, although it was almost the same form of killing each time.

So yeah, Europe has it share :?

Ok, a few years ago in the UK a guy called Dr Harold Shipman was found to have killed like 200 people.
With a further 150 assumed to be his work.

That's the extent of my knowledge, I don't keep abreast of serial killers, they make me feel icky.

200+ is a pretty successful serial killer career going on there... most of the big name serial killers have done in normally, what? 10 or so. That's pretty disturbing actually... I'm suprised no one caught on quickly.

Harder to find a killer if hes a doctor that manage to poison his patients, than if its a guy with a knife or gun.
If he stuck to weak or elderly people, and gave them wrong meds, or wrong doses, its bloody hard to prove anything :(.
