All-NBA Teams for 2005

Post by Winnow »

1st Team

F Tim Duncan San Antonio 553 (95)
F Dirk Nowitzki Dallas 510 (75)
C Shaquille O'Neal Miami 616 (122)
G Allen Iverson Philadelphia 498 (69)
G Steve Nash Phoenix 606 (118)

2nd Team

F LeBron James Cleveland 421 (45)
F Kevin Garnett Minnesota 408 (34)
C Amare Stoudemire Phoenix 367 (9)
G Dwyane Wade Miami 417 (35)
G Ray Allen Seattle 177 (1)

3rd Team

F Tracy McGrady Houston 264 (15)
F Shawn Marion Phoenix 134
C Ben Wallace Detroit 105
G Kobe Bryant L.A. Lakers 108 (1)
G Gilbert Arenas Washington 104 (1)

Which team do you think would win going head to head against the other two?

I'll take Team 2. Team 3 has no real leader while I think Wade could manage at the point going against Team 1 and run Team one into the ground ala Suns style with a much faster overall team.

Duncan vs Garnett
Dirk vs Lebron (um, I think LeBron has the edge here - Master of the Obvious)
Shaq vs Amare (can't guard each other but garnett could help out while Duncan couldn't really cheat off of Garnett IMO)
Iverson vs Allen
Nash vs Wade (gotta go with Wade as Nash has less people to dish Assists to than Wade)

Tough to say. You could also say the 1st team would pound the 2nd team down systematically, with their overwhelming size. They'd surely get the large majority of rebounds. And noway could Lebron guard Duncan or Nowitzi in the post. And you got Nash distributing the ball for them, while the 2nd team has no real ball distributor other than Lebron. Would be fun to watch ;)

yeah, the defense would have many strange match ups between the three teams, but overall I would probably take team 2 over the others. Team three seems to just be....odd. There should not be a team three....

First Nash is better at assists then Wade. Wade doesn't have more people to dish to; everyone on Nash's team averages more then 20 points a game. AI and Dirk average far over 20 points.

Team 1's real problem will be with guard defence. Wade and Allen are much bigger then AI and Nash. Of course team 2 will have a similar problem with front count defence. I'll give it to team 2 on speed.

Also I wouldn't count out team 3. Gilbert Arenas TMac and Kobe will give any defence trouble.

I'd take team two purely because team 1 has too many divas to deal with.

imo, team three is the best because it has the defensive player of the year.

Third team is interesting for sure. With Wallace hovering around the rim to anchor what is actually a pretty damn good defensive team (with explosiveness and quick players) they would cause some issues for the larger teams for sure.

I'd take the third team because the have the best defense of all three teams.

The third team has the second and third best rebounders in the league, the 4th, 5th, and 7th in the league in steals, and the 2nd best shot blocker. Not to mention there center is the only player ever to record 1000 rebs, 100 blocks, and 100 stls in 4 seasons and have 100 stls and 100 blocks in 5 consecutive seasons.

Also, they have the 2nd, 6th, and 7th best scorers in the league.

There's no right or wrong answer here but Team 2 would win. Someone break out an online basketball game and IT'S ON!

We'd have to have the computer play both sides though.

In a seven game series I would take Team one for the simple fact that 3 out of 5 members have taken their team to the finals. Each team would have a tough time matching up against each other, but in the end it's that little bit extra that separates the great player from the great champions. Iverson, Duncan and O'Neal would find a way to pull out a series victory.

Team 1 is the only one with a true point guard and a center. They're also the only team which isn't filled with people who need to hog the ball to be effective. They'd easily beat out the others. Team 3 would easily be the worst because you have the 2 worst ballhogs in the game on the same team.

I'm not going to say I'm a top-notch Basketball fact guru, but isn't Kobe PG for the Lakers?

As far as who'd win... Well, I'll say team three, purely because I live just north of Detroit, Michigan. =D

Kobe is really more of a shooting guard than a PG, but he plays a pretty decent PG as well.
