Do not click on that link unless your browser/virus software is totally up to date.
http://www.ltlf.co.uk/bbcnews.htm
It is not a BBCnews site, and could be some weird phishing attempt.
I'm being overly cautious, but just be careful.

It's just a fake bbc site with a ridiculous/funny story...
I'm not quite sure what they would be 'phishing' for on a football blog site.... yes you are being overly paranoid.

And yeah stragi - probably was me
but the story is so damn funny though )
I guess it is a fake - im sorry - my friend sent it to me, and of course, gullible me, i would believe that to be true.
Ignore the link then, and the first part remains true.

Any site that pretends to be a 'trusted' site (I feel news.bbc.co.uk is a safe site), could potentially have 50 links on the page that all go to the real BBC site, as this one does, and one or two that go somewhere else.miir wrote:It's just a fake bbc site with a ridiculous/funny story...

What is 'trusted' about the BBC?
They are not a secure site.
Nowhere do they ask you for personal information, logins, credit card numbers, bank info or bank card PIN... it's a friggin news site... you would have to be a complete fucking retard to give personal info like that to CNN or Foxnews.
'Phishing' is exclusively done to mimic sites which might potentially ask you for personal information like I mentioned.... like credit card companies, banks or ebay/paypal... not a fucking news site.
And how the hell does having your "browser/virus software totally up to date" protect morons from falling for a phish?
Hell, they didn't even try to disguise the URL or make it look semi-official.

Browser or virus software being up to date will not protect you from the social engineering that is phishing, however, if someone is not paying attention, and they go to a site that they believe is say... cnn.com, but it's really not cnn.com, and they click on links within the page indiscriminantly, they could follow a link that says they're going to cnn.com's sports page, but really takes them to a page that executes some malicious code.miir wrote:What is 'trusted' about the BBC?
