I think VT is the only state left that allows any 'peaceable citizen' to carry concealed. I am not sure what the crime rate is there, but I am guessing that it is rather low.

I imagine they will finally be able to get rid of all the greenpeace folks now.

Actually, Vermont has no real gun laws what so ever. When I lived there in the early 90's, it was completely legal for any American citizen to openly carry a firearm, so long as they did not come near a school or public building.
There are also several counties in California where CA residents with concealed permits can open carry. If I recall, the condition is that the county population has to be under 200,000. Still, several counties in CA refuse to issues permits to their residents, but oddly, they tend to be the ones with the highest crime rates.
At the other end, the area my parents live at in Florida has some of the highest gun ownership rates in the state. And if someone wants to think it's because the people are all gun toting, bible beating red necks, the people living there are mainly transplants from NY and NJ. One of their neighbors is a retired marine, another was a union trucker in NY, another ran barges in NY. All registered democrats, all gun owners. Oh, and the violent crime in the area is non existant because criminals found out awhile ago that the homeowners shoot back.
As for why I don't move, I actually live in a nice apartment complex where I can leave my car unlocked at night. It's just that the area around the school is not the best, so when I shop, goto restaraunts, etc, these happen to be in areas with high crime rates.

Turn the other cheek? I'm not religious but my morality is based on fairness (to the best of my ability). I believe strongly in an eye for an eye when responding to both the good and the bad.Kilmoll the Sexy wrote:Second, it is only time to move if you are a weak pussy who is willing to turn and flee at the first signs of trouble. The reason that the places are getting bad to live in is because of liberal pussies like you who turn the other cheek in every instance and allow the criminals to have more rights than yourself. Maybe when criminals realize that they might be giving themselves an instant death sentence instead of a slap on the wrist and a few months in the joint, they will decide that it might not be such a wise path.Forthe wrote:If you live in a place where its neccessary to carry a gun around for protection then its time to move.
In my 33 years I've had one encounter with crime...someone stole some CDs from my vehicle. Blaming places getting bad to live in on someone that lives in, for practical purposes, a crime free environment?
I firmly believe that most people are dumbasses. This is confirmed every day I drive to work. Giving people drivers licenses may be a neccessary evil but letting them carry around guns and giving them permission to fire first is almost as retarded as deciding to live in such a place.

He isn't even worth replying to.
Take that paranoid retarded fucking joke of a mind of yours and turn your own gun on it, that way we can cut out the fucking middleman you are so desperately waiting to 'defend' yourself from.
Hilarious really. You crackers make me lol.

Outside of hunting, the only reason to have a gun is if you plan on murdering someone.

U, just a challenging discussion
)
For example, saying "the purpose of firearms is protection" is WRONG. The purpose of firearms is TO KILL PEOPLE.
That is the ONLY thing they do.
Liberal gun laws, largest amount of deaths in any country by guns.......coincidence? NOT LIKELY.
How the fuck is it in the interests of the peoples protection if you glorify guns like they are an extension of your goddamn cock?
HAHAHA YOU ARE A FUCKING STEREOTYPICAL JOKE. END OF STORY.Come on down liberal pussy. I doubt you would have the balls to take someone out if they were systematically torturing and killing every one of your family members and gave you a loaded gun.

This is not why people have guns in the real world today (I'll redirect you to your murderous leaders here if your argument has any relevance to you). What a pointless argument.sorry mate, try again. there would have been no militia in the Revolutionary War had THE PEOPLE not had their own weapons.

Aye man you seem like a decent person from everything I've seen.

You should know my last post is not aimed at you or that sort of person, more the insane rednecks like Kilmoll the fucking spastic.Having a gun doesn't necessarily make you an asshole, or a moron. It's just that assholes and morons seem more likely to either have or need guns.

So let's use some fairy tale logic and eradicate the 2nd amendment tomorrow. With roughly 1/3 of all firearms on the planet in the U.S., how exactly do you propose to collect them all?
I am not going to say something like the solution is more guns, but the problem is that the bad guys tend to not be too concerned about gun laws. Also, getting a hold of guns is not that hard. I have a friend at school who owns machining equipment and he builds AK-47 receivers in his spare time out of scrap metal. If you have kids in Pakistan making them, just think how hard it is for Joe Dipshit to go on the internet and find a diagram, and then buy a few basic tools.
Sure, casual criminals may have limited access to firearms, but do you think they will choose a respectable life over a life of crime just because of a little technicality? No, they can just walk into a Home Depot and get a 20'' machette, or a dive shop for a wicked blade since both are quite capable of killing.
However, for civilians, they would have no real means of fighting back. If someone breaks into my house, I may have a baseball bat or a golf club, while they may be packing anything from a pocket knife to a sawed off shotgun.
The intent of most gun laws is to level the playing field in favor of civilians.
If you want to do something about the violent crime in the United States, you need to look at the factors causing it, not the means it is carried out. Humans can easily adapt to means, but without motivation, they will be far less likely to carry it out.

I'm sorry but I don't think the violent crime rate has anything to do with possesion of firearms. People who are violent will cause violence no matter what is at their disposal.
Oh and as far as the overthrow your government if it's being oppressive, not gonna happen. You see our forefathers did not count on modern weaponry. The average citizen does not have the capability to create tanks.
I support our 2nd ammendment rights, but there should be some regulations like there are already. IE : don't be a dumbass in general.

yeah, it takes a real macho stud to pull a quarter pound trigger on a handgun.Kilmoll the Sexy wrote:Second, it is only time to move if you are a weak pussy who is willing to turn and flee at the first signs of trouble. If someone breaks in my house or pulls a knife on me on the street, I really could care less about proving anything. I do not know how to wield operate nunchuks to defend myself. I am, however, very good with a handgun. I will use what I know will best give me a large advantage. You don;t get rezzes in real life....therefore I am going to do anything it takes to make sure I win.
I love how "nick" or whatever his name is this week turns my response to Kelshara into something more. Read it in context you irish twit. You know, the part where Kelshara says
As usual, the liberal front has called out against a gun law. I have yet to ever see a liberal conjure up a solution that would make it so safe that no one in the US needed to protect themselves. Always so quick to jump on the "lax gun laws" yet never have you offered up an idea that would work.

To which my replay says he wouldn't have the sack to take anyone out under any circumstances. Reading comprehension might be good...or maybe you can sober up a bit before popping off.On second thought I'm all for lax gun laws. Think I'll warm up by killing me a few idiots like Kilmoll. Self defense!

By the way.....I am going to stop one of your little fantasies now. Federal law in the US prohibits anyone convicted of a felony of any variety from owning or having a firearm of any type. Who wants to post the numbers on repeat offenders who are already prohibited from owning a gun? Having someone tell you that you are not allowed to do something does not mean you won;t do it.
We have laws against speeding in every state. Do you heed that law because it is posted? There is simply no way whatsoever to eliminate guns from the hands of criminals.....just like there is no way to eliminate drugs. Last I checked they made drugs illegal. How easy is it for you clowns to get your hands on those?

Man in hindsight I am really rawr in the post above, my general point is I think it's all a load of bollox.
Until a fundamental opinion shift happens more innocent people will die than needed to, simply because of a national gun addiction.
Given that guns are murdering devices, that in my opinion is hardly a good thing.
