Land of the Dead - June 24th

Post by Canelek »

'Land of The Dead' News TT~

Romero's 4th and final installment of his 'Dead' opus (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead) has been bumped up from an October '05 release to June 24th, 2005! I guess the studio folks really liked it and decided to feed more money into it for a summer release.

Well, this can be good (high exposure, something different in the blockbuster mix), or it can be really bad (lost in shuffle, Hollywood studios know jack and fuckall about film(fans of Jackie Chan, please don't bother to try and understand what I just wrote)).

As for me, I absolutely love George's work on this series with 'Dawn' being my favorite.

hopefully they don't "evolve" the dead into the super speed things that were in the dawn of the dead remake.

I am looking forward to this. I love Romero. I hope he got a nicer budget for this film and it isn't over glamorized with too many special effects for the masses. I agree that sprinting zombies are just wrong. I like those movies too but the new Dawn of the Dead was a bit too spastic in my opinion.

That was the single most retarded thing I have ever seen in a zombie movie... fucking turbo-zombies.

The newer Dawn of The Dead was one of the best remakes in a long time, IMO. Was funny as hell, scary as hell, and constantly thrilling.

I enjoyed the new 'Dawn' as well, but don't get it confused with a remake, because it was certainly not!

Back on topic.... Having the zombies be completely different, action wise, as the previous 3 movies would be incoherent and I really doubt he would deviate too much from his original concept...why bother?

Well, at least I hope he doesn't deviate too far--I expect that George will stay on topic and please his fans, but many a director has Hollywood fuckered....guess well will find out soon enough eh? :)

Sorry mate but thats a fairly common word.

For example, I'm going to go get drunk becomes "Right I'm away to get fuckered".

Sorry man, it is far too common to trace back to a particular source... :( Regardless, it is indeed a kickass word. :)

And anyone who thinks it isn't is mentally fuckered.

In the movie "28 days later" the zombies are actually infected with a virus called 'Rage' (imaginative!) and they run really fast and are completely mental.

28 days later is also a totally awesome film, so I don't think it's always a bad thing, although that new Dawn of the dead was absolute tripe, so I guess it's also down to other factors.

I like a good zombie flick so I'm looking forward to this.

28 Days Later was a steaming pile. It had potential to be great, but as soon as the army guys made their appearance the whole thing went out the window. The new DotD was far superior on all fronts. Was it in DotD that you could overhear a newscast saying something along the lines of the epidemic starting from monkey rage as being ridiculous? Or was that some other movie that made fun of it..

Ok, it's all going to be down to preference.

However, surely you jest sir!?

Anything with Godspeed you black emporer as the background music is already great. Not to mention there is actually a degree of acting skill in it compared to the new Dawn of the dead.
I actually liked the bit where the Soldiers came in, it was a novel approach to the genre attempting to add a bit of a murky human evilness to an already fucked up situation, which was much more stark in it's horror.

It is probably 'lost in translation' or something, mheh.

It works now.

It says a whole new cycle of terror, in the trailer. I wonder if that means a new trilogy? Would be pretty fuckin sweet if that were true.

read in a magazine last week that the director of LOTD liked shaun of the dead so much that he's asked simon pegg and nick lachey (ie shaun and ed) to appear in cameos in his movie.

While I didn't think the movie was a steaming pile I do agree that it went down hill at that same point. It took a movie that was epic in scope and narrowed it down to a isolated story of stupid people wanting to be in charge. Besides that it totally ripped that part off from Day of the Dead where the Military guys were the bad guys and the zombies weren't. Kind of crappy in that regard.

I have high hopes for this next movie.

I saw that correlation to Day of the Dead also. Romero started this whole sub-genre, so can expect some ripoff here and there in any non-Romero zombie flick.
