Guild hunting

Post by Fairweather Pure »

Not just guild hunting, but hunting for good players is the hardest part about playing WoW. Most people I come across absolutely fucking suck. They bitch, they panic, they only want to get something for themselves. I would rather duo everything I can with my GF then group with shitty players. It's amazing how one player's bad attitude can ruin everyone else's day of video gaming.

I am not, nor have I ever been in a guild since playing WoW. I refuse to lower my standards and join some fucking wannabe asshat guild that only has nightelves in it's ranks or some other stupid gimmick. Some of the guild names out there a a joke as well. Why would I join a guild called "Alcoholics Anonymous" or "Killer Bunnies"? I'm not foolish enough to take the game deadly serious or anything like that, but no way in hell am I going to wear such a queer name over my characters head either.

Am I just unlucky or are all you vetren EQers finding the same thing? It's really a PITA and by far my least favorite thing about WoW.

I'm a good guy on Bloodhoof, although have started bad characters on the same server.

I am probably going to talk with the GF and see if she would be willing to reroll our Horde characters on another server since they are still low right now. I'm just avoiding the servers that have the lag and outage issues.

I can't believe how many bad players I've run acrossed so far. I started making a "do not group with" list, but its getting long.

The guilds that spam the Crossroads too is getting old fast, but not as annoying as people just making that charter pop up when you are doing something important without even asking you.

Our guild on Whisperwind is 90% Prior EQ Vets. and 95% of them being from Veeshan. It certainly is a hard deck to stack and it seems like everyone and their brothers dog is already guilded.

a bunch of my former EQ guildies popped over and started an Alliance guild on Lightbringer, and that where I went. Thus far our recruits have been former EQ guildies, RL friends and family. We are looking at carefully getting some more people in, particularly as even amongst old school EQers, hunters and rogues are way too common, and healers are not. The key word is "carefully": there are a LOT of people out there (even people who SHOULD know better) who have appreciation for simple concepts like pulling a few mobs to you is superior to blindly charging shit in instances...

I've had people aggro rooms of shit, and then bitch at me because rather than heal them and die too, I back off and rez the group to save time. I've had mages overaggro, to the point where I cannot save them, and then yell at me because they took a durability hit. I've had tanks that didn't taunt, fuck I've had tanks that didn't even OWN a shield.

If you are on Bloodhoof that is where much of the old Sovereign guild went to on the alliance side. Gaklek is the GL and their name is Sovereign Alliance. They didn't move to WoW until January so they got a late start but are progressing well. Great people there and you wouldn't have to switch servers.

If you want to play on the Horde side the rest of Sovereign, primarily those who came from Ixtlan as well as numerous other people from Veeshan are in a reformed Ixtlan on Whisperwind with Xyun (Slyve) as our GL. We also have the Booty Bay Bandits on Whisperwind Horde which is made up of VV people as well who we partner with on events (Droglin, Xou, Noel etc...) I think there is also an Alliance guild on WW lead by Morgrym but we don't see them except on the battlefield :)

You said you guys are starting other characters and leveling them up, stop by WW sometime and say high!

Custodi Del Drago is who we are. Mostly made up from prior EQ CDD members with a fine blend of KoE and PE and a few other odds and ends from Veeshan and a couple other servers.

Still in the process of waiting for some folks to level up right now. So we are only active in places pre UBRS. Although, quite a few of us have been tag alongs through everything.

Like I said, it's damn hard to put together the perfect team but we sure as hell are on the right track.

Lor and I kick some ass as a team, Shaman and Druid, doing instances. We can't really trust most of the idiots we find hanging at xroads. We are hoping that Gemily catches up to us so we can have a competent third person in our level group.

Hmm our alliance guild on proudmore is all ex-MUD folks and ex EQ peeps. Good groups and we are not so huge so we can control the influx. I have fun and rarely get frustrated with group members because I never group outside of the guild.

I feel like such a douche...

We're on Thunderhorn not Bloodhoof. Oops!

Anyway, I've been checking out guild boards and what-not all day. Still very undecided as most seem full of players that just don't get it yet. I really wished I would've done more research before creating our characters so we could be guilded with good players like all my pseudo-VV friends!

So I am half way through lvl 44, got my mount and burnt out.

Sadly the amount of retards in this game have forced me to flee from my server and take a time out from WoW. I cannot believe how crap and non existent the community is on our server, not to mention (as Fairweather did) the amount of greedy, retarded, snot nosed, slack jawed imbeciles that invade any zone I happen to be in at ALL times.

Frankly, I like WoW, but I have found the people who play it (apart from literally 1 or 2 exceptions) to be the most unpleasant group of fucktards I have ever had the misfortune to come across.

Thinking of cancelling my account after what, 2 months?

Shitty.

I think instances also destroy any community that could have started up, and finding quests worth doing 40+ just doesn't seem worth the hassle.

I certainly didn't think I would find myself in this position only 2 months after starting up.

Was Miir right? *SHOCK* :p

This game is choke full o retards. I havent logged in at all in about 2 months..but have been getting the itch to do so....maybe re-roll on Whisperwind, and abandon Blackhand entirely...I dont know. What a great game it is, but for fucks sake, there are soooooo many fucking retards I can usually only play for a little while before I get disgusted.
The AH is a story in and of itself. Korean & Chinese pharmers has hightjacked that economy, not to mention that a single player named "Iamtrans" used the lovely buy blues low then sell em high strat to lead the AH prices to oblivion. They gotta give us /auction back!! Only having ONE viable outlet to sell/buy crap sucks dog balls. Or have they changed that since I last logged in?

I was very motivated to like WoW when I reactivated my account... hell, I even prepaid 90 days... but like teeny said, the people who play WoW are the biggest bunch of assholes. I have no idea how such a good game could be made so shitty due to the players.

I did meet a few pretty cool people when I started leveling up my Mage but the majority were complete tards.

I agree with all above..... I WILL NEVER group outside my guild, I started it for that very reason, so I would have complete control and it worked out well for us. We're milking UBRS getting ready for MC/Ony, but the one major problem is priests. Finding 8-10 non retarded, non "Im gonna be uber and app to AL once I'm 60, non greedy fucktards is proving to be impossible.

I agree with you on your view on the average WoW player. Many people are new to MMORPG's or come from games like Diablo.

Ex-EQ players are there though and they, unliek the above, do understand the games mechanics and fit in to WoW quite nicely.

My guild made up mostly of either RL Friend ex-EQ Raiders, Non-EQ RL Friends, ex-EQ Raiders friends of my friends or just friends of my friends who have never played. <--- Whew thats a hard one to comprehend.

About 1/4 of my guild are ex-EQ Raiders.

About the only thing my guild is missing to be formidible is 2 solid full time Priests.... God damn these guys are hard to find. I wish more folks played a Priest :(

I actually found a decent group last night. They always group together and know what they are doing. They don't panic and do stupid things (maybe a bit too causious though). So far its 3 good players vs 18 bad ones that made my list after 2 weeks.

I can count the number of groups I've had with priests on one hand. They are definately rare in my experiance. My druid gets constant tells for groups and guilds, so we're not exactely common on my server either.

My GF is really enjoying her Undead priest so far. They're definately not like EQ clerics, which fucking suck to play IMO. No idea why so many people avoid playing them.

Because WoW doesn't really give players much incentive to group while leveling up... therefore there is not very much appeal in playing a traditional 'support' class.

Made it to 49 mostly solo as a priest. Its great fun and I get to live vicariously through Ixtlan killing uber mobs.

Come join us on teh Horde side of Whisperwind and I'll help Pl you where I can. I'm of no use to the majority of Ixtlan unntil I hit 60, so I may as well have some fun.

The largest problem that I have seen in WoW is grouping with people who dont understand group dynamics. My main is a priest and it was always funny when I was leveling and doing the mid level instances (because this typically doesnt happen at the higher ones or at least not with the people I do them with) You would have your warrior and lets say you get like 3 trolls in ZF or like a couple of those behemoths in mara or the likes of that... and for some reason the rogue always is peeling agro off the warrior instead of assist and then freaks out when you have to drink after the pull for chain flash healing his low HP leather wearing ass. I am not saying that the game has to be like EQ where its CC everything but one thing, but when classes that shouldnt tank do it gets old fast. What I think that pisses me off the most are shamen who dont carry ahnks for rezzes. I mean thats like needed right? In the old days when peris were required in EQ clerics supplied them and the group generally paid them back, while the anhks arent that exensive why not carry a few around? How many warlocks out there are like "Oh I am sorry I dont have any soulstones this raid so I cant SS you"
