NFL Draft

Post by Deward »

Another NFL draft is coming up. The talent seems to have really fallen off this year compared to last year. It does give some more anticipation on what the picks will be though. I don't think anyone is worth the first pick at this point but I don't think San Fran will be able to give that pick away.

I think Mike Williams is the most underrated pick right now. Last year, he was a top 5 pick in some circles. I think he'll fall to the end of the first round this year. Someone will get a steal. I think he is the best available receiver at this point.

Did you see that WR from Michigan play (Edwards)? Can you seriously say that Mike Williams is better than him? Didn't think so.

I disagree with the statement that there isn't a good #1 pick out there.

Aaron Rogers is as good as any quarterback to come out of the draft in the past 5 years, if not better.

As long as he goes to a team that can support him (not San Fran) I wouldn't be surprised if he is in the top 5 quarterbacks in the NFL within 3 years.

You rarely see such a combination in a person who has the arm, the touch (accuracy) and is a student of the game all at the same time.

Not to knock Mike Williams cause from what I remember he rocked the 2004 Rose Bowl, but he hasn't played a game since then so how can one even say that he is the BEST receiver in the draft.

IMHO after watching Edwards receiving ability win the MSU game (the one where michigan made up 21 oints in 4 mins in the fourth) Edwards in undoubtably the best receiving prospect this year. Williams has the talent but now he has to make up for losing a whole year.

ESPN has Williams ranked 4th overall right behind Edwards so I doubt he'll slip to the end of the first round.

Hmm... late 6th round for Voro? Higher (mid-5th?) if he has a good workout at his school this weekend.

Of course, I'm not a scout or in any way affiliated with a NFL team. So I could be wrong.

So very very wrong.

The 9ers have a chance to do something special in this draft, Rodgers will be the first pick and the consensus is JJ Arington will be there at the beginning of the second round, these guys played togather for years, they know each other and could grow togather as players, Barlow sucks, the best move, PR wise to regain bay area interest, and for the team would be to take this tandem with the first 2 picks they have.

Ive heard rumors that the 9ers and Chargers are discussing a trade of Phillip Rivers for the 1st pick.

That would help the 9ers qb problem, and Rivers would come very cheap (for a #1) His signing bonus is SDs responsiblility. In return, SD would get dibs on that #1 receiver they need. Or they can trade away the pick and load up on draft picks.

Those rumors have been squashed pretty much, Nolan is totally running the show here in the bay area (and no I am not much of a niner fan, tho I no longer hate them, it's easy to like a loser) and he is a straight shooter and has said the reports are false, and basically that he thought Rodgers was a better QB then Rivers

I am semi-bummed that I am going to miss the draft day telecast: the first one I'll miss in over 20 years. All is not bad, though: at least I'll be on vacation in Germany and the Czech Replublic. :)

Matt Jones (QB/WR) from Arkansas is a good pick. He is predicted to go in the 2nd round as a WR. I saw him play when he was the QB a year or 2 ago and although he was an option QB, the dude had talent there. As a WR he provides one hell of a target and has good hands and blazing speed.

I'd like to see Henry from WVU go in the first round. Doubtful due to his attitude issue, but eh...Look at some of the best current receivers...TO, Moss... Plus the boy has size and hand on him.

Next year, My hopes go with T.A. McKlendon of NCST. If only he could stay healthy a full year, he'd be a shoe-in. Got size, speed, quickness, just durability issue. *sigh*
