Just upgraded to digital cable today. On our living room set the standard digital box was 1cm too wide to fit in our home entertainment center, but the DVR box was narrower and would fit (for an additional $6.95 per month) so we decided to go for it. OMG DVR is awesome! As we were fiddling with the new remote learning what it all does, my gf's sister called, I just hit record then pause and saved her show for her. She was thrilled with how easy it was, the better picture and sound quality (we always had "snow" on channels 50-80, now clear as a bell and shows off the nice picture on the TV) and overall extra cool features.
Now if I could just find a way to spin those movies I've recorded to DVD-R...
omg, the TV caveman discovers fire

TiVO has all sorts of hacks to network the DTR to computer to offload movies etc, but I'm not sure about the non TiVO cable DTRs out there.Tenuvil wrote:Just upgraded to digital cable today. DirecTivo-HD combining Satellite, HDTV and DTR into one box has been as been a couch potato dream machine. It took one day after getting Tivo (DTR) to change the way I watch TV forever. I used to stress over getting home in time or remembering to watch a certain program. Now I do what I want, pause when I want, and watch TV on my schedule instead of the network schedule. TiVO (and DTR's with slightly less options for programming) are as useful as advertised. (much like Copernic is useful for file finding on your computer! - see computer forum)
