Fantasy Football Week 10

Post by Bubba Grizz »

My week finished with a win last night thanks to 2 Gannon to Rice TD passes. I was down by a lot of points before going into last nights game and I needed a big night from Gannon, Rice, and Rod Smith. Thankfully they came through.

What really irked me was that they took Ahman Green out just before the half. I know I know, the team was up and there was no reason to bring him back in but it still doesn't change the fact that he scored very little points for me this week. Antwaan Smith from the Patriots disappeared from the game in the second half for some reason. I wasn't playing close attention to the game but the game became a Kevin Faulk highlight film. (I picked up Faulk for next week)

Here is the question of the week then. If you were going to set up a Fantasy league, how would you set up the points? Also how would you handle waivers and trades? The service we use is Yahoo's free league stuff if you need some basic info.

Bah, so long as he runs in the right direction there should be no problem. Players have played with worse.

Lucky for me I didn't go up against Buress this weekend. I decided to bench Antwaan Smith in favor of his backup Kevin Faulk. He did outstanding last week.

Speaking of Faulk's, I heard that Marshall Faulk will be sitting this weekend due to a sprained ankle. If that is true then I highly suggest that you pick up Lamar Gordan, Faulk's back up. This kid is extremely fast and will be called on to carry the load in Faulk's absence.

plaxico

Post by Avestan »

you gotta give plaxico his due, the guy is really good, so is Hines Ward. Between my three leagues I have at least one of them starting in every league. Drafted them in rounds 6-9. He was not a surprise, just a really good game from a good receiver. . .and I don't even like the steelers.

the guy in my league that has Plaxico benched him for Moss. ROFL.

I'm in first @ 7-3
then we have 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, 5-5, 4-6, 4-6, and 2-8.

Needless to say it's still up for grabs for the 4 playoff spots.

In my league I am tied for first but ahead in points. It is a close race as well. One of the things we didn't like about this year was that we had to do an automatic draft instead of a live one. It was too difficult to get everyone together at the computers at the same time. (There are only a few gamers in our league and some players haven't even,* GASP*, heard of EQ) Next year we want to lower our number of teams down to 10 from 12.

Would you guys be interested in doing this as a Vault league next year?

I'd be interested in it. This was the first year I've ever played Fantasy Football, and it's been pretty fun. I am in 4th place, but I have the most points in our league (we play on Yahoo).

We did auto-draft as well, for the same reasons. While I would have rather done a live draft, I will say that the auto-draft did seem to make things a bit more even. And in the end, it didn't seem to matter much, what with all the trades, add/drops and injuries. Not to mention some players just flat failing to perform.

Here is what I was thinking for a FF league stat wise.
1 QB
2 WR
2 RB
1 TE
1 K
1 D
4 Bench

Points
1 per 20 yards receiving
1 per 20 yards passing
1 per 10 yards rushing
1 per 10 yards returned

1 per completion
1 per reception

6 per TD rushing, passing, receiving, defensive
1 per extra point
2 per 2 point conversion

3 per FG <40 yards
4 per FG 41-49 yards
5 per FG >49 yards

-3 per missed FG <40 yards
-2 per missed FG 41-49 yards
-1 per missed FG >49 yards
-4 per missed extra point

2 per interception
2 per fumble
1 per sack
2 per blocked kick

At least this is what Yahoo will allow. Our current league is somewhat like this now except we are going 15 yards rushing per point and a few other things like numbers on the teams and we have a WR/RB position. What do you think?

Theres nothing sexier than a guy who hates football. Once I figured that out, my Sundays became wonderfully devoid of drunken fatasses, greasy bar food, and a lot of mindless conversation.

I love nerds.

A man who is indifferent to football = semi-tolerable

A man who hates football = Nancy-Boy who'd rather be playing with an easy bake oven.
