Radar Detectors

Post by retiredwikit »

I'm not sure how many of you own Radar detectors but I am looking at buying one and need a little info on the "best deals" for one. I've looked around a little bit on e-bay, but everything that's semi-cheap I don't really trust. I understand if you buy in bulk you get a lower price, but dropping the price well over 100 dollars for an item, I don't see how the sale can be legit.

If I'm completely mistaken, please point me to a good buy.

Thanks for your help.

Do not buy any other radar detector than the mighty Valentine One. It's more expensive but freakin worth every penny.

Here's an example. True story. I was driving through VT heading back to Connecticut, when my V1 went off on a clear rural area. I radioed my friend and told him to back off, he said his Cobra didn't see anything and he was gonna keep his speed up. 2 miles down the road he got caught and ticketed. He told me later his radar detector didn't even beep till he saw the cop.

Never skimp on a radar detector or you might as well not even have one. The money you save avoiding tickets will pay for itself. Up until 10 years ago I always had a radar detector and it saved me countless times.

Totally agree. Don't even waste your money on any detector other than this one. I've owned the top of the line Bel and the top of the line Passport, and the Valentine one destroys them when it comes to accuracy (not falsing) and reliability.

I don't need no steenking radar detector! If I want to speed, I'll speed. If a cop doesn't like it, he can pull me over. Surprisingly, I've been pulled over more often when i've *had* a radar detector than I have without one. Or maybe the cops just think that a Volvo can't go very fast or something...suckas!
