It Takes a Thief

Post by Mak »

I've seen a few episodes of this new series on Discovery Channel. The basic premise is that these two former burglers (now gone legit) drive through various neighborhoods looking for a house that they think is ripe for the picking. One guy then leaves to get ready, while the other guy goes and knocks on the door and convinces the homeowners to let his partner rob their home while they watch on closed-circuit TV from the street.

I have to say this is a very eye-opening thing to watch. I have yet to see the guy take less than a minute and ahlf getting into someone's home. He can also make off with most of your valuables in under ten minutes. This guy finds practically everything in the house that has any value. What's most amazing, I think, is how most people are so less protected than they think they are. One couple even had two dogs that did nothing but follow they guy around while he was robbing them blind- he gave the dogs chew toys even.

Afterward, they bring it all back, explain the how's and why's of what happened, then set the people up with all new security.

Very interesting program, and definately worth watching at least one episode to help evaluate just how vulnerable you are.

Too often it seems it is the peaceful and innocent who are slaughtered. In this a lesson may be found that it may not be prudential to be either too peaceful or too innocent. One does not survive with wolves by becoming a sheep.

Damn, that really is pretty interesting. Definitely going to try and catch that at least once.

Yeah, it's pretty scary how much he can do in a short time. Don't they also try to do the same thing after installing the new security as well?

I saw the preview for this and yah it was pretty good. Loved the guy who was all arrogance at first, "between me and my dogs I'm not worried..." The dogs are taken care of with a nice steak and the burglars would probably fuck the douchebag in the ass rather than be afraid of him.

This is pretty cool heh.. loved the guy who got his entire house updated and then left the front door open when he went to the store.. came back to them sitting in the kitchen drinking his beer.
