I think it's because of this.Okay you fucking bastards, just stop it. Every single game of this type I die in the first two or three days. If you've got issues with me, take it up with me! YOU FUCKING FUCKERS.
You notice that in the recent rash of VV based games, the ones from the 'popular crowd' rarely play. In Mafia 1, Noel was likely the only heavily considered 'popular' person to take place in the game. I leave myself out of the equation because I am far from the most popular, irregardless of my post count.
Again, in Mafia2, Noel was the only person from the 'fnord' to take an active part. Winnow, Teeny and Shae all participated, but while active, they are not considered to be part of the overarching 'popular' crowd.
In Mafia3, you were the only real person of the fnord to join in on the fun. Thess jumped aboard, but I'm not quite sure how popular or commanding her presence is on the boards.
In Survivor, after two people largely disliked by the fnord were booted, your own group began to collapse, part from internal strife and part from external sources. Even if you had played in the game, it is likely you would have been expelled from the island long before Shae.. because it's a relative assumption that she isn't smart enough to be a threat, but annoying enough to inspire everyone else to wish to be rid of her.
So what's happening in these games where the 'fnord' and the so called popular crowd is placed in a situation where there is a larger base number of people that are neither popular, organized, respected, or people that simply have a post count to small to be afforded any level of familiarity by the board at large - you are a target. Simply because you are popular among your own set of friends, co-workers and fellow games does not necessarily make you and yours the most popular people on the boards.
So to answer your question...
Perhaphs you are not as well liked as you thought, or if you are, your luck has been bad enough to place you into the midst of people that would feel better without your presence as they attempt to enjoy whatever endeavor they are undertaking.
Or, on the other hand, it could be that you and yours are recognized as being highly intelligent and thus 'heads above the rest of us mere mortals', and are therfor placed into a higher threat category than the other players whom exist in the shadows of obscurity.
Food for thought.
