Well I didn't want to be accused of being a troll.

There's also some commentary there about WoW.

Hey, I actually liked Bryce! But he has a point.

Throw in programs like Maya and 3D Studio Max and you've pretty much nailed it on the head.

OH NOS!

Someone prefers WOW screenshots over EQ2 screenshots.

I'd guess that more than half of the people who play EQ2 or WoW really don't care that much about how the screenshots of either game look.

I mean really, if that's the worst criticism you can come up with for EQ2....

Miir you are the worst troll in the WoW forums. I hope you're happy.

I can definitely see where some people really enjoy EQ2's graphics (I liked what I saw in the free trial), but that screenshot it just horrible. Calm the fuck down, it's humor.

Edit: PS Masteen, how many VVs do I owe you for our Miir-time-to-defend-EQ2-posting bet?

I'm just trying to spice things up.
We should consolidate the WoW and EQ2 forums... they are both pretty dead lately except for my trolling and fishing.

Gabe made a post saying how shitty the screenies for the new EQ2 Adventure Pack: Raiders of the Lost Pocketbook look.

It said WoW is better than EQ2 because the screenshots look better.

I know reading comprehension isn't your strong point Miir, but had you bothered to read the full page... After Gabe RIGHTLY slammed SOE for using an apalling looking screenshot to pimp their new adventure pack, he also said after showing a cool WoW screenshot, "now if only I could log in". The post was 100% valid.

I defy you to tell me that the model in that screenshot looked good in any way shape or form.

If I saw that model in UO, I might think it looked like it belonged, but we're not playing nethack anymore, so I expect my MMOGs to have graphics, and I expect the graphics/models to look slightly more complex than something I could draw myself.

Which of the SS's was appaling, Noel?
I liked the ones with the armored skeletons. :)

It's not the best, but it's not horrid.
While you have one fo the dumbest gargoyles I've ever seen glaring at you, there's also a bit of foliage, water effects and some of the local creatures to give you an diea of some of the types of things you'll eventually run into.

Had I done it, I would have likely used a SS such as this one:

..or this one...

...which show off EQ2s graphics engine in a fairly good light. However, sicne we have a fundamental disagreement over the quality of the end product of the two engines, I doubt you will come to the same agreement.

Gay looking demons are gay looking demons no matter how many different color light sources you shoot them with.

The skeleton looks cool, and I think the demon looks exponentially better in the SS you posted. That said, the one SOE is using to advertise their adventure pack is in the other thread, and it looks atrocious. As long as they fire that artist, they're ok in my book.

The picture they put up on the penny arcade site does look fairly silly, soe should talk to whoever picked that particular shot :P. In general screenshots of a lot of things I have seen in eq2 don't really seem to do justice to how things look in the game (to some degree this is true of most mmorpgs I have played). Not sure what it is exactly.

I personally do not like the character/hair/armor models and textures in EQ2. I've seen some kickass landscape screenshots though.

I'm beginning to wonder if Blizzard has a secret employee at SOE that picks out the worst possible screenshots for their advertising. That is seriously the worst (but most amusing!) EQ2 shot I've ever seen.
