Federal Judge Orders 'Enemy Combatant' Jose Padilla Charged

Post by Aabidano »

I was glad to see this, either charge him with something or let him go. The President greatly overstepped his authority in this case.
U.S. District Judge Henry F. Floyd ruled Monday that the president of the United States does not have the authority to order Jose Padilla to be held.

"If the law in its current state is found by the president to be insufficient to protect this country from terrorist plots, such as the one alleged here, then the president should prevail upon Congress to remedy the problem," he wrote.

This reminds me a lot of the Kevin Mitnick case. I am glad to see a judge actually looking out for the interests of freedom. This Padilla guy may very well be scum but he has rights as an American citizen.

Nice to see a judge make a decision based on the constitution, instead of his/her feelings.
