BRUSSELS (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) said on Tuesday the idea that he was preparing to bomb Iran was "ridiculous" but he failed to satisfy European calls to offer Tehran incentives to curtail its nuclear program.

"This notion that the United States is getting ready to attack Iran is simply ridiculous," Bush told a news conference after talks with European Union (news - web sites) leaders.

"Having said that, all options are on the table," he added, drawing laughter at a clear reference to military action.

Any school that has a philosophy department or a computer science department has at the very least multiple incarnations of logic courses.

Symbolic logic is not something that is some abstraction of the effite (hip 2004 anti-liberal word). It is a very real field of study that has existed for quite a long time.

i would actually say that logical thought is something that has a genetic component, but it is also likely to be largely honed and perfected through experience. Whether that experience is formal education or similar disciplined engagement of ideas.

For instance, you probably met plenty of people in school who said "why am i ever going to need this class?". Well beyond a 16 year old being so utterly ignorant of what an adult needs to function - the question is absurd in general. One of the main reasons to educate oneself is to discipline thought. Very analagous to physical conditioning for atheletes.
