More costly? Perhaps. But it's only in 3 week intervals. That's far less maintenance than shaving daily to avoid stubble. It all depends on what you hate worse -- hassle (shaving) or pain (waxing).Sirensa wrote:No thx on the brazilian wax.. waxing the pubic area in general hurts enough, brazilian is just taking it too far! Course the results are oh so much better than shaving! But the maintainance is frequent and costly.
aren't you a guy? like don't people here know you personally?Millie wrote:More costly? Perhaps. But it's only in 3 week intervals. That's far less maintenance than shaving daily to avoid stubble. The actual waxing does hurt, and it's not always a honey mixture. It can be any type of hot waxing agent. What hurts is the way it's unceremoniously ripped off your skin.Mirror wrote:The actual waxing doesn't hurt, Millie. What hurts is putting hot honey on your skin. Some people don't mind using cold wax, but the hot honey mixture (I assume this is what you call Brazilian wax) is much more hygienic.
To answer Kyoucan's question: Have you ever taken a boyfriend into the salon with you to hold your hand while you get a bikini wax? Some girls have. Go figure. If this is the case (and it is, in my case), it's quite common for a guy to see firsthand what the experience is like. In fact, I'd venture to say that just about any guy who's lived with his girlfriend for over a year will be able to tell you quite a bit more than you'd expect about "female" issues like this one. It's par for the course.
On a side note: shouldn't you be annoying CT or something like that? Or getting into yet another jingoists vs. anti-jingoists fight? By all means, don't quit your day job on my behalf.
Personally I have never used a hot honey mixture so I have no idea what that is like. I prefer an aloe vera based hot wax. And no, you don't put the wax on your skin when it is super hot anyways. If you do, the consistency is so runny that you won't be able to pull it easily from your skin, thus causing more pain. Once the wax cools just a little, it thickens up and is MUCH easier to work with. And yeah, like Millie said, the pain, particularly in waxing of the pubic reason, is ripping the hairs from your body, not the wax itself.
Oh and one more thing... check your definition for "brazilian wax" because it sure as hell isn't referring to the type of wax usedMirror wrote:The actual waxing doesn't hurt, Millie. Actually, there is wonderful advancements in hair removal tech, like this liquid you rub on the rub of and the hair just, rubs off with it.Lalanae wrote:I tried waxing the bikini area ONCE. I have super-sensitive skin and I ended up bleeding from some of the hair follicles. I stick with my Venus razor blade for that area.
Downside is I heard it stunk like a five day old skunk adder, so maybe you may just want to stick with a shaver,
I got a question, when you shave down there, does that usually lead to a sucsession of events that leaves you either A) Pleasuring yourselves or B) Seeking better attention than fingers?

I stated at least 100,000 times on IRC over the course of the last several months that I was not going to be able to make it. I am in college 3,000+ miles away from San Francisco, and I am too overloaded with work to fly out for a weekend. I'm sorry if you didn't receive the message; including Karae and Sylvos, you seem to be one of the three people who didn't.

^^For sensitive skin used hot or cold..
I prefer the salon as I do not have the will to get into self waxing.
It hurts, but 1) no razor burn 2) less time 3) less * maintainance* 4) nice...finish : )
Roll on wax isnt too bad when you have to cancel your appt or something.
Epilady is the devil
Epilstop is a waste of money
Lalanae..try the sugar kind. Most salons do it for 50-100 bucks, or you can order and do at home for like 20-30 bucks. Worth a shot

The debate is not whether or not you said you couldn't make it at some point or not. The point is you said you were going and then pussed out.Millie wrote:God, not this again.emmer wrote:Millie I thought you said you were going to the FF?

I once waxed my leg as part of a dare. I would rather crash my bike into a thicket of brambles inhabited by angry killer whasps on steroids than do that again. I try imagining the pain on a much more tender area, such as my testicles and I get red flashes behind my eyes.
The reason women can endure the pain of childbirth is due to years of practice in pain management; wax hurts like a bitch.

You aren't supposed to wax it if it gets too long.. certainly if it's as long as a guy's leg hair. Waxing doesn't hurt that much if you do it properly and don't get it grow too long.Drolgin Steingrinder wrote:I once waxed my leg as part of a dare. I used to use an epilady on my legs.. Those fucking things make waxing feel like a foot massage. They sure made my legs smooth, but something about paying money for a device designed to rip hair out of your skin by the root is just wrong.
I use hair removing cremes now. The good ones are expensive, but its a lot less time consuming and stupid than shaving and a lot less painful and messy as wax.

Yup, same here. It's the best shaver out there for women, IMHO, and it doesn't cause razor burn for me. I'd never try a waxing, I'm not one for pain, especially anywhere NEAR my vagina, kthx. Yik, just the thought of it makes me hurt. *shiver* Besides, after 8 years of option A, it's just something you get used to doing every other day *shrug*Lalanae wrote:I stick with my Venus razor blade for that area.
Btw, Skintimate gels seem to work the best for me. I just use the kind with Aloe Vera if I'm overly sensitive some days.
