Yes it's real

Full-Parrying her super is lunacy, the crowd had good cause to go nuts. One missed parry and he'd KO, not sure how much money was on the line but it's Evo so I'm guessing a lot =p

Don't read the following paragraph if you don't play Guilty Gear

Daigo is pretty insane, I'm trying to get ahold of a video where he FRC'd 7 Gunflames in a row, utilizing a golden burst to refill his tension after the first 3. In a tournament, not staged. I've only heard about it, but want to see it.

umm, there are a hundred or so people who REALLY need to get outside and away from the playstation a little more.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

Justin Wong is back in the news. He was on the losing end vd Daigo of one of the greatest gaming moments in history...it has to be...where have you ever seen a crowd go that nuts over a video gaming event?

(linked from above) Dude had so little health you couldn't even see it on the bar!

Here, Justin Wong gets kicked to the loser's bracket, makes a huge come back to get into the finals, and then loses again:

The commentators crack me up.

Daigo didn't block, he parried.

If you hold back, you'll automatically block if the opponent hits you, but in a lot of cases (including Chun Li's super combo) you'll take "chip" damage--a tiny amount of damage that goes through your block, which would have been more than enough to KO at one pixel of health.

Street Fighter 3 has a parry system, where if you press forward in the two frames (1/30th of a second) before you would get hit, you'll parry the move, taking absolutely no damage and generally being able to take action faster than if you blocked. Furthermore, Chun Li's super is what's called a "point blank"--it hits on the first frame of its animation, which means that to parry the first hit (and thus to even have the chance to parry the entire thing) you have to enter your parry before the super animation starts. You have literally Jedi the move, responding to it before it happens. Daigo does this, makes 15 consecutive perfect parries, and combos out of it to win the round.

It is, to this day, the single most improbable and impressive play in the history of competitive gaming.
I received reports that not only was this near impossible but on top of that, Daigo (who was playing as Ken the blonde male) had actually planned this by strategically giving his opponent Justin (playing as Chun-li the female) enough energy from those projectile fireballs to perform the super combo. Simply put, this is just fucking ridiculous.
EVO 04 Semifinal - Daigo Umehara Vs. Justin Wong

Always liked this video without even understanding the game mechanics but finally got the full explanation as to why it was so awesome.
