...what was the title of the person that served the King/Queen/Generals in the capacity of greeting guests to their chambers and telling them something the lines of "The ____ will see you now?"

I want to say herald, but I'm not 100% sure.

Could be any number of people... the Queen might send her Lady-in-waiting, the King perhaps his steward, majordomo, castellan, or seneschal.

Royal courts have any number of common positions, but their actual duties vary from court to court and country to country..

There can also a big difference between the bloke that says the noble is ready to see you and the one that announces you to the court.
