Satellite images from Tsunami stricken areas

Post by Xatrei »

Digital Globe is hosting several before and after images of various areas affected by the tsunami. Looking at these is both fascinating and depressing at the same time.

They've been showing amateur footage from tourists all day, every day, since soon after this happened in some awful, ghoulish ratings frenzy. Nothing got across the devestation like those first few comparison photos of Aceh though..

This is video shot as the tsunami destroys a restaurant in Phuket, Thailand. It is very, very scary. My heart sank when I saw two elderly people swept away.

I read an interview with the guy hanging on to the balcony trying to reach the elderly couple.. can't remember if he was Norwegian or Swedish.. but he later met the husband of the elderly couple alive.. no news about the wife.

I always wonder, do you blame yourself for not being able to reach them? Or when you save one person but can't reach another, are you happy you saved one or feel guilt because you could not save the other?

I'm sure he does both feel bad he couldn't save both and happy he could save one.

A mind boggling event. No way you can second guess what myself or that person would have done in that situation since this type of thing has not occurred in our lifetimes.

You thank God that you live, you acknowledge God/Nature for its unbelieveable source, the loot that cash register that is floating by.

And don't you fuckers lambbaste me for saying it .. everyone of you has thought about the shit floating by and what you would have pocketed.

That is what I miss about bouncing .. the change on the ground after a good fight.

Most people fail to see the positives in all situations. If I didn't already know, I'd peg Seebs as a republican based solely off of that quote.
