It's been a hair over 60 days..
...how many are still playing and plan on continuing to do so?
I'm in, and my fiancee is hooked. We've got a fairly regular group of folks that can accomplish just about anything the game throws at us so far, so it's been a reliable blast. Even with the slow exp gain, I feel like I'm out-leveling content.
Just wondering about the rest of ya'll.

I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

I'm just bothered by the "future". EQ2 is going to have 2 expansions a year, just as I started to post this the griffon ride crashed to black again, they're kidding themselves if they think the game will be in anything like an acceptable state before expansion 1 is due, and even worse when 2 is due.
Tradeskills appear to have been "tuned" by a sadistic 5th grader w/ social issues, and the retard that set the original sell back prices on food etc needs sacking.
Quests are still widely broken.
Tradeskills are still massively broken, on top of being continually nerfed.
Dunno... will give it some more time yet since I still basically enjoy it, but doubt I'll ever buy an expansion.

I'm still having a blast. 33 Necro, 16 Warrior twink. I don't give a fuck about tradeskills or tradeskillers but the swine have gouged me left, right and up the arse since day 1 so if they're getting a little payback now then HAR! They'll have to content themselves counting their piles of filthy cash til the fixes go in
"People only buy pristines" - bollocks!
"We can't make any money" - 10gp+ for armour, 2gp+ for App4 Tier3 spells, get lost!
Pay me <2sp for the gold i harvest then charge me 1gp+ for the end product. Lick my balls, you bandits!
Yeah the top end stuff needs tuning and the skills need re-re-rebalancing. You'll live.

Can tell you haven't done any tradeskilling...
A stack of T3 ink, when you're starting T3 takes about 3 hours to make (really), after you gather all the shit... (down to about 2 hours at 27 alchemist)
This keeps the supply of ink low (alchemists keep it to make T3 essences for xp, guild and "later")
Then you need paper, quills.. a sage.
Top that off w/ the shite on-line selling, and you can get stuffed if you think 2g is a "gouge". Just because the vendor buy back is shite doesn't mean it's not worth 2g. If you want to see gouging, check out the jewelry pricing.. less subcombines and 4x the price, at least.
Hrmm.. 6 hours of tradeskilling to make 2 stacks of ink worth about 30s per, or a level in a decent group. You're lucky anyone's stupid enough to make your lazy ass spells for 2g.

Get fucked I was a sage til 17 then I gave up cos tradeskills suck. A stack of Tier2 ink took about as long as a stack of T3 according to your claims.
I'm talking about getting gouged an App spells that are known to have no current Adept drops and the Adepts of equivalent level that DO drop go for about 1gp each. And jewellery. Mainly jewellery cos they've been making fucking fortunes.
If you spend your life adventuring rather than tradeskilling 2gp is somewhere around 10% of your total net worth at level 30.

The real shame is that jewelcraft is so goddamn easy that I can make pristine on anything I want by spamming the right skills non-stop. There is basically a no power cost reactive skill you use doing jewelcraft for each step up the chain.....I can spam the two and never lose power and can keep the item at 100% (or more) for pretty much every single item I ever attempt to craft.
The real fix to tradeskills would be to make multiple items per combine for certain pain in the ass things. They do it for Alchemy so no reason to not do it on items that are only used for sub-combines in other skills. I would not care if it used up 4 sources even....as long as it took the tedious bullshit out.
BTW....if you are gouging on tradeskills, woe unto you if you ever and I mean EVER need help doing actual activities or quests. People remember the price gougers.

Ive been having a great time, it seems that (imo) they took everything that was wrong with EQ, threw it out the window and created an mmorpg perfectly suited for my needs...this might also have to do with my class, i played a mage in EQ1 and i was always a tank/dps at heart
in EQ1 or EQ2 i have never had any desires to do tradeskills but i understand there are some issues in this area...but honestly i would rather be out kicking ass in Zek or EL then being stuck in a tradeskill instance tinkering with little rocks

I got my arm twisted into playing EQ2, and at first it was kinda cool simply because the graphics blew me away (EQ is the only computer game I have tried so it is the baseline) and I was really impressed with the amount of EXP that you get from doing easy quests... without even trying to do any tradeskills. I liked how you got skills and spells automatically added to your character as you leveled...
Lag is wicked because my comp is only a 2gig with a gig of ram and a cheap ass 5200 video card on cable... I can 2box wonderfully in EQ1 and can hardly run one character in EQ2. I can't afford to upgrade.
Granted I only got to level 16 on my Crusader and already got tired out on it... my favorite thing to do is make new characters and play on the Isle of Refuge... sad...
So I guess it's back to EQ1 until I can either afford a new computer or they shut down the Veeshan server...

I've lost interest in EQ2 due to the massive nerf to tradeskills. I was a 34 jeweler, and went from being able to consistantly make pristines to being 2/10. This was all from subcombines I did before the nerf, so I was doing this with the ability to get pristine. Now it's even harder to get pristines cuz you have to get subcombines to pristine as well.
I have noticed one thing that kind of pisses me off, and that's that some Freeport crafters have transported their products to a gimp of theirs in Qeynos. Not only are they doing that, they are super price gouging. Well, since I can't do anything about it other than matching price, it's pretty much sucking my life out of this game. There needs to be a better way to this pricing than this.
Well, it was fun for a while. I can at least say I was ranked as high as 5th for quests completed on my server at one point.

So I don't cause all sorts of issues like on the WoW poll, I voted no. I will be officially canceling this week. I switched to WoW because I can solo easily, tradeskills are not a massive time sink and I enjoy the game more.
EQ2 is a good game, it just requires more time then I am willing to give it. If I want to log on for 2 hours one night I can get good xp, level up 2 tradskills while medding and solo without a problem. With EQ2 after 16 I had to find groups (most of which annoyed me, person got something they wanted an left with no notice,. etc..) to continue to level. I found myself wandering around gathering.
I also did not feel that sense of wonder I felt in the original EQ. EQ2 was too cut up. The world of WoW has few "zones", I find something new every time I play. I am glad you all enjoy EQ2 I did to an extent too, but I don't have time for 2 games so I guess I am going to the one that is easier to play in short spurts.

When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. Why do I keep hearing the "I can't solo" excuse for people not playing EQ 2? Soloing is the single most boring thing anyone can do. Not to mention that you won't get anywhere near as good of exp soloing.
If you bought a game so you could solo, you should have gotten a singe player game. Now if you just really feel that you have to solo, then I am really at a loss as to why you can't. I have the single worst class in the game to solo with and have soloed at just about every level to some extent or another. The hardest levels to solo....by far.....are 20-25. After 25 it starts getting much much easier. At 30, I began soloing mobs that were yellow to me in Zek. I also began soloing mobs that were orange to me in Enchanted Lands. Soloing mobs with the worst solo class that are 4 levels higher doesn't seem to be exactly "unfriendly to soloing".

The exp rate gained in soloing is slow, horribly so, and from what I'm reading on the EQ2 boards (mind you, viisited Here before There this morning and I'm about 14hrs+ behind on it now) is that the exp rate is being looked at.. simply because it's too difficult for moorguard to explain about.
But overall, exp is Slow, horribly so - and I enjoy that. I'm not a grinder, I'm an explorer... EQ2 isn't the game to play if you want to breeze through content, and even at 26, I've already missed out on 2 almost 3 major dungeons / quests that I simply can't do now because i'm too high, even though I'm taking my pace.. think that's one of the things I love about it.

I'm with Kilmoll - soloing is a piece of piss just skull-crushingly dull. At least you usually have a few "kill x ys" quests to make it slightly worthwhile. I've done a shitload of it lately to catch up a bit with my usual group and now I've had enough, but 1 yellow per hour was about my average with no-risk soloing.
Incidentally the best gp->xp conversion quest I've found are the Shard Collections. Completing each of the 6 of those gave me 5-8 blues of exp at 31/32 and you can buy all the shards off the broker if you need to. The supercollection of these gave me 8.5% of level 32 and the necklace reward is a pretty awesome int caster necklace. If I didn't want the exp I would've waited til I'd got some use out of the shard earrings though but hey.

That is one thing Im suprised they didnt nerf. The buying of XP.
I do it regularly myself. Every night I log on, first thing i do is check the broker for bones and shards. Last thing I do before I log off is check the broker for bones and shards.
A couple days ago, I bought an unscathed iksar bone, a skeleton arm and a skeleton leg. 34 silver spent. 20% xp gained. 10 minutes logged on. Cant beat that!!
As far as soloing. I echo Tanc and Kilmolls sentiments. BORING!. Why would this be your preferred way of playing an online game? I couldnt tolerate soling in EQ, and I dont even bother to do it in EQ2. There is no excitment in it. If I dont have someone to group with, I either do quest legwork, clean out green quests, tradeskills, brokering, exploring, or go into kilmolls apartment and rearrange all his furniture and steal his trophies.

There is a reason it is slow. It is so you don't outlevel the billion quests that are available through each level range too fast. If you are an ADD type person, you can play WoW to get those fast and way too easy levels. In 4 weeks you can be level 60 and go back and do all the things you missed that you outleveled. Yay fun! What the hell is wrong with challenging yourself on a slow ascent? Why does everyone need max level instantly?
You all do realize that there are "boss" mobs and raids for guilds that start at level 20 and each step of the way to 50 right? Right? This is not a "you must hit level 50 before you can see anything powerfull" game. Quitting at level 15-20 and saying how bad the game sucks sounds just like any of the reatrds who leveled to 15 in EQ 1 and then said it sucked. I really don't see a difference between EQ 1 and EQ 2 level wise.....they just removed hell levels and spread the exp across all the levels.
If I had the hours to play that I had in EQ 1, I would be close to 50 right now. I know I can make about 10% exp in an hour and a half solo and probably more than that in good zones with a group. Wouldn't really be a challenge to level every 2-3 days if I was playing 6 hours a night and 15+ on weekend days.

You seem to be under the impression that there are no dungeons in WoW under level 60, and that's flat out wrong. There are instances for both factions starting at level 15, and they only get more plentiful as you level up. The quest system also breadcrumbs you into them, so you have to CHOOSE to miss them.
The challenge in WoW isn't leveling, getting exp is easy. The challenge is getting your character equipped properly for the next tier of dungeons. Even at max level, its necessary to upgrade equipment before stepping up to the next tough instance.
And battlegrounds aren't even in yet...
I was very much anti-PvP before I played WoW. The way it's done in this game has converted me. WoW PvP is not meant to be "30 simultaneous duels" like some of the retards on the b.net forums seem to think. When you PvP as part of a group that knows its shit, it is 100% pure own.

Gotta agree with Kil 100% here.
It's slow for a reason. Look at all the unused zones in EQ1 that no soul ever visits because they're too out of place or don't offer any rewards other than crappy loot that you can easily twink better with. I don't imagine the grind to 60 is that much different now than it was back in July - and all that content goes unused.
This way, you have Reasons to go to the content, explore, and just generally have a fun time taking in the depth of the world.
No hurry to reach 50 here, the endgame will always be there when I eventually get to it.

Such utter bullshit. I logged my twink warrior on (L16) to do the FG access instance the other night. 6 runs, total time online ~1 hour, gained 70% of a level.xp in eq post say level 11 is so fucking excruciatingly slow it makes EQ1 hell levels look like a daisy filled walk in the park
It's pretty slow at 30+ but I gain approx half a level per Nektropos Castle clearance. By that measure I could level every other day if I put my mind to it but then, as others have said, I'd outlevel the quality content too fast.
It isn't slow but it isn't WoW either. I don't want 3x L60 chars within 6 weeks of playing

I think you missed my point here.....
It is not that WoW does not have dungeons for under 60.....it is that WoW races you to 60 so fast that there is no way you could explore them at the level they were meant to be done. That is the one beauty of EQ 2. It doesn't rush you past content unless you really go out of your way to do so. You also can't go back and do some of the content if you missed it as the trivial loot code keeps you from going back to farm shit way too low for you....which keeps you from taking mobs and loots from the people the places are meant for. EQ 2 is the long race where WoW is the short sprint.

Kilmoll, I've done every instance multiple time AT the levels they're intended for. You are 100% wrong about that.

Kilmoll, you take this way to seriously. It is just a game and people are allowed to have their own opinions, but lets look at what you said in response to my post.
As to the other claims of people saying that EQ2 sucks. I never said that. In fact I said, "I am glad you all enjoy EQ2 I did to an extent too" I just found that for my play time I enjoyed WoW more. I have one of my RL best friends in FOH and I chat with him while I play. Tradeskills can progress while I play the game and the quests are, for the most part, quick and interesting.
EQ2 is a great game. I just thought WoW was better, you don't agree which is cool. Just don't stress so much over people not wanting to play EQ2.
As far as the Fanbois playing WoW. I have yet to really run into any of them. I had one moron keep clicking duel on me and one alliance jerkoff jump on my mob over and over hoping I would hit him, but otherwise it has been fine. I saw just as much Crushbone/LOIO/DL stupid chat in EQ2 as I have in WoW, maybe even more.
Well I like the genre. I find the history in both games interesting and so I enjoy playing them. I did not realize that I was not allowed to play MMO games unless I grouped. If they were solo games I would have bought them anyway for the reasons I just stated. If you bought a game so you could solo, you should have gotten a singe player game.
Maybe you are highly skilled, or I just suck. I did not say I could not solo. I said I found it difficult to play solo. I know very few people in game, the ones I met sucked and I do not play long periods of time. I hate to join a group for 30-60 minuted then bale on them if we are geling well. I found myself wandering around working on my gathering skills instead and killing the occassional mob. With the slow xp and my game schedule I would be level 20 by year end may by Sept if I pressed hard.I have the single worst class in the game to solo with and have soloed at just about every level to some extent or another. The hardest levels to solo....by far.....are 20-25.

When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

Ain't this the fuckin' truth. I remember everytime I would leave Qeynos, there would be some teenage dickwad in Antonica trying to spread his Dark Elf/Troll/Ogre (etc) ego everywhere and spamming the hell out of the zone. "Freeport PWNZORZ Qeynos!" Damn SoE Fanbois =PTyek wrote:As far as the Fanbois playing WoW. I have yet to really run into any of them.
