Gratz Team Canada!

Post by Narmgarf »

Nice to see us dominate the world juniors after 7 years of not being able to win gold. Unfortunate that it took an NHL strike to get the team that we had this year though.

Also too bad that none of their games were all that interesting to watch as they were pretty much all blowouts. Bronze medal game was a fairly good one. The Czech goalie was awesome.

Never really sure why I post anything hockey related on this board though...most people here seem to have their priorities screwed up.

Anywho...Go Canada Go!

This last one was really exciting. The moves those young ones did were amazing, especially Carter, Crosby and Bergeron.

Go Canada go!

I also heard this is the first time a country won all 6 golds in hockey tournaments in a year.

I'd heard a few people comment on that...though I would have thought we'd have had to win the World Juniors last year for that to be the case. Matter of opinion I guess. Either way we're doing well with the hockey dominance :)

I've never seen utter destruction of an entire tournament like Canada did at the IIHF World Juniors this year. Brings one manly tear to my eye.

The seven year drought is over!!!

Was nice to see the gold come home, especially when they destroyed the showboating assholes from Russia. I was offended by Russia's antics at the end of their semi-final game against the USA: beating a guy hard and fair is fine, but taunting their bench and fans in an international tournament that is supposed to be about skill, pride and sportsmanship is not.

As for these guys, I hate how people are trying to compare them to other teams: they were great and they dominated. Were they as good or better than the 95 team? Who knows. They were both great squads that played hard, played well and brought home some hockey glory in Lock-Out years. Looking for the next Jarome Iginla, Bryan McCabe or Ryan Smyth in these guys isn't right to me, but a lot of what fans and reporters do at times doesn't sit with me either.

Well done guys!
