Anarchy Online getting desperate

Hehe, just found this on Gamespot, seems like AO are getting REALLY desperate to get customers, now they offer 1 free year of playing.

free 1 year subscription, with fine print that if too many sign up and server load gets high, it will be cancelled with the option to buy.

AO actually grew into a pretty good game after the looooooong stretch of unplayability due to bugs / crappy cs / server issues.

If I had time, I'd give it a whirl again, especially since it's free.

It's only the basic game that is free, not the expansions. And not a bad PR trick really, especially considering the fact that the game is damn good now.

I worked with a guy who still played it (tried to get him on EQ but no joy

) he got me into it for a while, both online and the offline one, quite fun if you went through with it.

The billboards really aren't too imposing. They also moved advertisements for NPC places around as well so that it all fits in. The only ad I got tired of were the Motley Crue ads.
