My fellow Americans, I come to you today to speak about a gathering and dangerous threat to our homeland. They move very slowly, but when they strike, as we've seen in Asia this week, they kill tens of thousands of people. They are a deep underground network that spans the entire world, and they must be stopped. I'm speaking of course of the tectonics of evil, and I vow to protect our homeland from this shadowy threat.
Let us not stand idly by while this threat gathers to strike us, let us lead a coalition of the kinda-sorta willing to stop this global menace.

Nono, a plate is something that physically exists. A democrat/republican can only declare war on an abstract concept, or an inanimate, indefinate hodgepodge of stuff, such as drugs, the greenhouse effect, and terror.
