I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

HUNT'S HERMITS
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. ginger
1 1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. raisins
Mix all ingredients together thoroughly. Press evenly over ungreased jelly roll pan or shape in rolls 1 inch in diameter on cookie sheet. Sprin.kle lightly with sugar. Bake 9 minutes at 375 degrees. The Hermits will look soft but they become chewy as they cool. When cool, cut in bars.

1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. LAND O LAKES® Butter, softened*
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 c. granulated sugar
48 Hershey's Kisses, unwrapped
Heat oven to 375°F. Combine 1/2 c sugar, brown sugar, butter and peanut butter in large mixer bowl. Beat at medium speed until light and fluffy (1 to 2 minutes). Add egg, vanilla and salt; continue beating until well mixed (1 minute). Add flour and baking soda. Continue beating, scraping bowl often, until well mixed (1 to 2 minutes).
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. (If dough is too soft, refrigerate 30 to 60 minutes.) Roll balls in 1/4 cup sugar. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until very lightly golden brown. Immediately press 1 chocolate kiss in center of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheets; cool completely on wire racks.

1 tsp baking soda
18 oz. semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla. In another bowl, mix together the flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Combine the wet and dry ingredients. Stir in the chocolate chips.
With your fingers, place golf ball-sized dough portions 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 9-10 minutes or just until edges are light brown.

2 1/3 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp of salt
Colored sugar crystals
Sprin.kles
Heat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large bowl, combined powdered sugar and margarine, blend well. Stir in remaining ingredients; blend well.
Fill cookie press with a small amount of dough into desired shapes onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Here's where you can decorate the cookies with sprin.kles and colored sugar crystals. Bake at 400 degrees for 6-8 minutes or until set but not browned. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.

In large bowl with mixer at medium speed, beat peanut butter and margarine until smooth. Beat in sugars until blended. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture; beat until well blended. If necessary, refrigerate dough.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten with fork dipped in sugar, making crisscross pattern.
Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove; cool completely on wire rack. Store in tightly-covered container.

Shortbread
1 pound unsalted butter
5 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
Cream butter and sugar with mixer. Add flour and mix with a wooden spoon. Use hands to thoroughly mix.
Press into a jelly roll pan. Prick to bottom all over with a fork being sure the fork hits the bottom and the pricks are close together.
Bake for 10 minutes. Reduce the heat to 300 and continue to bake for 40 minutes more. Wait 2 minutes then cut into finger size bars. Cool thoroughly in pan.
Makes about 72.
