Found this on another board. Thought it was amusing

I thought it would be fun.

That’s right, I thought it would be fun. Who was I to know that my goal of finally getting my own comp to play EQ with my girlfriend would turn into a nightmare. First , a little backround. My girlfriend is the one who got me into EQ. When I first saw it would poke fun at the “cheesey” graphics and seemingly “pointless” gameplay. Being a child of the console video game I was used to flashy graphics and games that had a final conclusive goal. Well, needless to say I got sucked in when she handed me the comp one day after I was raggin on her about the game. I believe I said, “that game is dumb, evertime I see you playing you are just running around.”

Well she handed me the comp and I made a dwarf rogue. After reaching lvl 5, I ditched him and made a beastlord. After I started playing I couldn’t stop, I got EQ fever. It wasn’t long before I began to get higher in levels and reached the point when I wanted to get my own computer so we could play together. Well I finally got my own comp and we twinked out some alts to play with, seeing as how my main was on her account. It wasn’t long before I realized why, in my short time of playing (bout 3 months), I had passed her 45 druid main(been played for a year) with my 51 beastlord.

Now I don’t know if it’s just because girls don’t play the way guys do, or if it’s just my girl. I do havta admit I’m a video game champ, I eat through games like no tomorrow and its only the time-sink aspect of EQ that keeps me from being the uberest of uber. But I still hold my own and do quite well for being a casual gamer. \

So we twinked out some alts, I made a human monk and she made a gnome necro. That’s when the trouble started.

It is disasterous, all we do is fight.

It all started when we started leveling in NK. Seeing as how we are both uber twinked, I started pulling reds. I was able to solo red-con scythes at level 15, and we were getting grt xp. Untill I got one bad pull and died. Now im not allowed to pull reds any more. Fine I said, I wont pull reds, saves the argument. So we pullin blues, she says oom, so I say,”go ahead and med, im gonna pull, I have full life and mend is up”. Next pull there she is casting again. Then I get, “your pulling too fast I don’t have any mana!”.

DUDE I TOLD YOU TO MED

She is constantly sicking her pet on me, then gets mad when I say something. Looks like this.

she disbands, “you’re being a jerk tonight.
Not to mention the amount of times I have been dotted, lifetapped and snared due to her lack of targeting ability. USE ASSIST!!

Pulling a borer beetle, get a red con add. Ask her to fear it. Nothing. Fear Please. Nothing. I’m about to die. FEAR PLEASE! She disbands, I die

WTF WHY YOU DISBAND??

Fine, lets continue. She says, “I havta go get spells, ill brb”. Okay so im waiting for about 30 minutes before I get bored and start killing things. 1 hour later shes back and ready to fight. 30 minutes later I ding. Now im an @#%$ because I dinged before her.

“have you been playing when im not on?”
“No”
“Then how did you ding before me”
“I was fighting while you were getting spells”
“FINE, JUST PASS ME UP I DON’T CARE!!’
“WTF?”

We get a druid in the grp. Seeing as how I was already yelled at for typing stuff instead of saying it because we are in the same room, I was trying to juggle saying things in RL to her and in EQ to our GRP members. I started feeling really dumb saying “incoming borer beetle “ in RL cause it sounded really dumb so I told her I was gonna just hit my inc hotkey from now on. So me and druid are joking in grpchat, my girlfriend disbands.

“why you disband”
“Oh, just figured you were having so much fun with your little druid friend, why don’t you got lvl with her?”
“OMG ARE YOU FOR REAL???”

Hey, lets go to befallen I say. Whatever you do, don’t use fear okay?
“there you again acting like I don’t know how to play”
“okay okay, sorry just reminding you about fear in dungeons”

So we go in, on the way to get the second key. I tell her to assist me with pet so we dotn get any runners. 2 mobs jump on me, both green, im handling them. Get a third add, she sicks pet on it.
“tell your pet to assist me”
“hes got it”
“hes gonna run….”

So her pets mob takes off when hes about to die and there goes her pet chasing it down the hall aggroing 2 more. Heres where I find most chicks panic, when a lot of stuff is going on and the chat window is spamming info and sounds are coming from everywhere. Next thing I know I see little skulls everywhere and off runs a greater skeleton, she frickin feared it. Then amtrack train number 666 comes through. Of course she feigns death, and of course mine fails and I get pummeled.

“Dude, I told you no fear”
“I know I know im sorry I panicked”
“why did you even have it memmed?>”
“im sorry okay, jeez whats the big deal”
“well yeah, you didn’t die”

So we leave befallen, go to minatour caves in steamfont. I tell her, ill pull to here.
I get a couple adds inside and I die on the way back to pull spot. Come back, loot. Try again. Go inside to pull.

“why do I have to wait here” she says
“well, im pulling to you, and you can med while you wait”
“but you keep telling me to wait here and im not getting to do anything, this is boring”
“fine, come with me”

So she comes in with me, I tell her to hug the left wall.
“ I know, ive been here before” she says\

Next thing I know shes on the right wall and aggros the minatour lord, red to us, tripling me for 60’s..
“dude what are you doing, left wall left wall” I say
“I was looking for my pet”
“damnit”

So I take the minotaur, I tell her “RUN” im gonna take the death. So im lying on the ground bleeding to death waiting for my loading screen when I see her try and fear the minotaur. Of course its resisted seeing as how its hella higher than us, now she has aggro, she dies.
“Why in the hell did you do that?” I said
“ I was trying to save you”
“ I was already dead”

Okay okay, if you don’t succeed try try again. Im so frustrated, what I thought would be so fun is a nightmare. I don’t even look forward to playing. She wants to take no risks, go no dangerous places. I’m starting to think our alts are gonna be destined to be lvled to 60 in outdoor zones playing it safe, which is boring as hell. So now we back in the karanas which I hate, lvling in the same place I leveled my beastlord. Seeing no new things, going no new places. Pulling the same old things to the same old pull spots. Never to visit all the cool places on the moon and such because, she has never been there, therefore its too risky. Probably gonna end up in DL, arg, the kunark express. Guess I’ll just have to adventure with my beastlord. And I thought it would be fun.

"Dude your pet" is normally somthing you say to a guy. I don't think I've ever said dude to a woman.. am I behind in the times?

I've xp'd with a female like that before. Its irritating as hell. You tell them exactly what to do and they mess up or get distracted or whatever and you die. Playing many games with RL mates is only good if you are a) both really good or both b) really suck. A works, B may not cause it makes your sucky experience of the game doubled. But maybe you just both suck and dont realize it so have fun together.

I hardly think this problem is gender related. There are plenty of dipshit male players on our server as well.

My ex-wife got me started in EQ... that whole thing sounded vaguely familliar to the early days. We finally found a nice sollution. She leveled with other people.

and to answer your question, I used to work with a few younger guys that called everyone "Dude" even females. Since there were 5-6 of them that used "Dude" as a unisex term, I believe it is pretty much accepted... no matter how stupid it sounds

Eesh. Thats doesnt look promising. I just got my G/f into EQ, she loves it and has a great time taking risks and such (as you should do). Only problem is we have one computer and I havent been on in weeks, because she goes in a huff since "I'll be on for hours."

New computer soon tho, hope our grouping is better than above

LOL -- Not my wife .. she was in KC (L54 WAR - about 3.5kish HP when buffed maybe) when the L51 CLR in the group was casting the "Heal 300HP over 20 seconds" instead of the "10k instant heal". She was like "Why the hell are you casting That heal when you should be casting Complete Heal?!". The Cleric (also a woman/girl) starting crying, disbanded from the group, and had "boyfriend" (real owner of said character) talk to my wife. My wife chewed him out for letting someone who doesn't know how to play a character try to work in a high-end zone. Was funny as all hell. (Since I was the Enchanter in the same group trying to keep her alive with mezzes, I was pissed off too)

I got my husband to play for a few hours once, twinked out an SK for him and PLd him a bit all he did was complain about how the game was "boring" and "a waste of time" Wish I could have gotten him hooked

but he works too much to have time to play anyway.
anyway, I dont think that this problem is gender specific, I dont start crying and nuking/doting mes'd mobs when I see lots of adds

. And I have played with more than one male that doesnt know how to use /assist etc
