Porn is the driving force behind all innovation, dating back to the first photographs. Did you think they were getting broadband to pipe more Jesus into their homes?
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .
Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."
Dwight Eisenhower

It may have come across to you badly, but the facts are correct. The photograph, moving pictures, VHS, DVD, and the internet were all grown using funding and innovation to provide better quality for pornography. While none of these technologies was conceived of specifically with pornography in mind, it is understood that the technological advancement was built on porn money.Rekaar. wrote:You have a lot of hate in your life, don't you.
This was actually mentioned in my history of Engineering lectures at university. The remarks were quick and superficial, but the head nod was given.

Easy, champ. I wasn't trying to "OMG!!111!! PWNZ0R!" you. I was trying to continue the conversation on civil terms. Feel free to ignore Tenuvil's response if you actually want to have an intelligent conversation about this from where I last left off.Rekaar. wrote:OMG YOUR RIGHT I FEEL SO DUMB I DIDN"T THINK ABOUT THE FACTS JUST THE BASH I"M SORY

I think Rekaar's initial response to Jice had more to do with this:
than with debating the merits of how much of an historical influence porn has had.Jice Virago wrote:Did you think they were getting broadband to pipe more Jesus into their homes?
Freedom of speech makes it much easier to spot the idiots.
Think about VHS and Betamax, for those who were around back then
Both were taking off but then the Porn industry moved from film to video, cutting their costs and producing their films on VHS as soon as they went to the theaters... was a huge market and helped to secure VHS and killed Sony's superior Betamax technology.
Much of the same is true for the Internet. I have been working with Internet and network technology since the mid 80s and I can promise you that even by the mid- 90s VERY few businesses were purchasing DS3 and larger Internet connections. However almost every porn site has multiple DS3 lines from redundant providers... yea that's a given now for any med to large business but back then, Porn is what was taking up the bandwidth.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong. From some of my other posts most people probably know my position on Porn, I'm just saying that in my experience that was the case.
