US Consulate in Suadi Arabia attacked
I'm surprised that noone's posted about this.
I believe this is the first attack on US holdings outside Iraq and Afghanistan since 9/11.

Saudi Arabia is on the short list of countries that need to be liberated. They've never been our friends. We used them and they used us out of the greater fear of Saddam steamrolling Saudi Arabia after Kuwait, which would most likely have happened if the United States stood by and did nothing.
BTW, the price of oil coming out of the middle east has dropped recently : )

This is worse than the first WTC attack. Bush has had 4+years to beef up our lands here and afar, as compared to Clinton who had all of 3 weeks after sworn in to office the first time for the attack on the WTC #1
1993:
==Jan.20 > [•] Bill Clinton is inaugurated as President of the United States.
Feb.26 > [•XX] The first major Islamist terrorist attack within the US: the original World Trade Center bombing is carried out by Ramzi Yousef and associates from the Alkhifa Center in Brooklyn. Six people are killed and over 1000 are injured. The $3000 terrorist operation does $500 million worth of damage, but the towers remain standing. In the investigation of the bombing, US officials first come across the name Osama bin Laden - but for several years they don’t fully understand the threat posed by Muslim extremists, and believe that bin Laden is no more than a financier of terrorism. In the WTC case, he is only named as an unindicted co-conspirator
Yet people jump all over Clinton. /clapDec 1995 Congressional Republicans block anti-terrorism legislation proposed by the Clinton administration.
The litany of failures under the Clinton administration has been posted several times over several different threads...did you just not read them or are you conveniently forgetting them to bash your sworn enemy?
I think it's very sad that your anger is always directed not at the people that did the deed - but somehow at the President.

Show me where he failed. Could he have done better? Sure, but he could only do so much with his hands tied by the Rep ran house and congress.I have yet to see one person here argue a debate other than " he got his wang sucked so he was evil".
I can show you a time line of PROVEN events since Bush 1 that all fell in to the lap of Clinton. How can you argue about how Clinton done, when your own party blocked a anti-terrorism legislation that he put forth to FIGHT and PROTECT our lands. Not once but over a period of 8 years.
All Ive seen was attacks on Clinton and how he wasnt attacking them, when he wasnt allowed to. So tit for tat?

Hey, I'd be happy if Rekaar would back up his assertions with even some republican think tank opinion piece, but generally everything he says is some chinese whispers version of third hand opinion that has diverged so far from reality that it's hard to even work out how you could come to the conclusion offered.
At least Adex is clear when he's talking from the heart (faith, etc) rather than trying to represent clearly biased rhetoric as fact.

Clinton was an overweight, coke snorting, cheating president that was in office simply to party it up and run up huge expenses flying people around using our tax money. He was useless as a president.
There's no need to factor his indiscretions into the discussion to rank him near the bottom of our presidents in terms of his performance. As long as he was having a good time, he was happy.
Even while being a pussy overseas allowing the terrorists to gather the courage to strike us, he couldn't control our economy and let the tech bubble destroy the stock market.
He should have been thrown out of office due to incompetence.

You sound like you have a personal vendetta against the man.
Youve only got him on two - Overweight and cheating. The rest are definitely attributable to GWB too. I don't remember Clinton ever doing coke (marijuana yes but..), but GWB definitely did, and probably did in the beginning of his first term.Winnow wrote:Clinton was an overweight, coke snorting, cheating president that was in office simply to party it up and run up huge expenses flying people around using our tax money. Just look at his speeches. "I think *sniff* that *sniff* the American people *sniff*..."
Clinton also never used expensive military equipment like air craft carriers for publicity stunts.

I guess it's nice to be able to make comments like that about the minority, because you are in the majority on this board. We "right" thinking individuals on this board may think you are fiscally stupid. But, we are the persecuted minority. You guys think you are right, just because you are the majority. Funny how ironic and monumentally hypocritical you lefties are, huh?

I was no fan of Clinton, but you would have to be a complete hack to complain about Clinton's fiscal policies. That's standing on their own, not even compared the the biggest spender in our nation's history - our current President. Clinton did not merely reduce the deficit - he generated a surplus and was actually paying down the debt. From the very year Bush took office, fiscal responsibility went out the window. Our deficit climbed in each of his four first years and this last year alone he has had to go to Congress to raise the legal ceiling on the total National Debt twice.....and run up huge expenses flying people around using our tax money.
There are all sorts of bad things you can say about Clinton, but fiscal responsibility is not one of them.
So you're going to teach me something about finances and money management now?Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote: /shrug

Did I said that? hmmmm I re-read my post a few times....not seeing that anywhere. Maybe, just maybe, I was referring to your calling someone who dared question a Democrat....stupid.Chidoro wrote:So you're going to teach me something about finances and money management now?Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote: /shrug

So one of you blames the republican congress for the mistakes and the other praises the democrat pres for the wins. This is great, except spending is set by Congress and foreign affairs are set by the white house =/Aaeamdar wrote:I was no fan of Clinton, but you would have to be a complete hack to complain about Clinton's fiscal policies. Right. Thanks Rekaar. Your ability to explain the deatils of government in such simple black and white terms is staggering. Perhaps you should consider taking up a career teaching civil responsibility to third graders.
Spending is not "set" by Congress any more than the President, for example, "decides" who shall replace a retiring Federal Judge. The budget is a collaborative effort until the point where Congress is able to override a presidential Veto. What is certainly true is that the Congress has become more Republican. It has been Republican since the second half of Clinton's first term (Senate, that is. House has been Republican for longer than that), except for the apx. 1 year period During Bush's first Term when Jeffords defected and before teh mid-term elections put the Senate back in Republican control.
Republican Congress + Clinton = fiscal responsiblity.
Republican Congress + Bush = rampant spending (including massive social welfare spending).
I'll let teh reader figure out for themselves if there is a common factor that can be subtracted out that might lead to some conclusions about the fiscal responsibility of our last two presidents.

It was all smoke and mirrors! Although it didn't occur until Clinton was out of office, add 911 to Clinton's tab and see how that surplus stands due to his lack of responsibility during his presidency.Aaeamdar wrote:Clinton did not merely reduce the deficit - he generated a surplus and was actually paying down the debt.

Was he using taxes received from the humongous tech/biotech bubble to pay down that dept? Yes! How many would take a deficit and no 911 if Clinton was performing his job well?
Bush had to salvage the "glamorous wreck" that Clinton left our country in. I call it glamorous because it sure seemed great when you had all that easy stock money in your pockets eh? Market Caps through the roof. Did you think all was well when you were making 1000% gains on your stocks on companies with no products and only the promise of profit sometime down the road? To be fair, that was mostly americans just being stupid on their own but people tend to give Clinton credit and are also too stupid to see that there was zero chance the tech bubble wouldn't eventually burst. Even you liberals would be hating Clinton if it was possible for him to stay around for a third term and watch the market crash, watch his ineptiude during and after 911 and most likely sucking up to the French and Germans. Be happy that your fantasies of Clinton being a good president are intact.
I hope people aren't seriously considering Hillary for 2008.
Jesus Winnow, do you really believe 9/11 is Clinton's fault? I know you're 90% troll, but this...Winnow wrote:It was all smoke and mirrors! And once again Winnow FAILS to even fucking read anything. The Republican Congress BLOCKED forming a anti-terrorism legislation proposed by the Clinton administration. Want a hint at what it included?
Could Clinton done more? Sure, but could he do as much as he wanted with his hands tied? I highly doubt it.
Could Clinton done more? Sure, but could he do as much as he wanted with his hands tied? I highly doubt it.
Sep.09,1996 > [•X] The Clinton administration proposes anti-terrorism measures that would cost $1.1 billion, including $429 million for airline security suggested by a commission headed by Vice President Gore. Clinton has been urging fast action on anti-terrorism legislation since late July, but Congressional Republican leaders have balked. A National Research Council study published this year concludes that upgrading the nation’s aviation security system will lead to protests from passengers.
Aug.14 > [•X] The CIA and the Pentagon present Clinton with strong evidence that bin Laden is responsible for the embassy bombings, is planning additional terrorist acts, and will be presiding at a top-level al-Qaeda conference in Afghanistan on Aug.20 (this last, erroneous piece of intelligence is probably provided by the Pakistani ISI). Clinton approves a counterstrike, though he’s aware he’ll be accused of trying to distract the public from the ongoing Lewinsky scandal. By now, the administration considers bin Laden “Enemy No. 1” and further intensifies the struggle against al-Qaeda. Eventually, Clinton will station submarines in the Indian Ocean prepared to launch missiles against bin Laden on short noticeFeb.12,1997 > [•X] A panel chaired by Al Gore reports that US airport security is woefully inadequate and makes over fifty recommendations for improvements - in particular, it urges greater information sharing on suspected terrorists between the CIA, the FBI, and the airlines. Little is done due to the Congressional Republican leaders keep blocking legislation."
Aug-Dec > [•X] There are a stream of intelligence reports indicating that terrorists are planning operations in the US involving aircraft - in Aug, there are even rumors that a group of Arabs is planning to fly a plane full of explosives into the World Trade Center, but the FBI and the FAA consider this information highly dubious. On Oct.08, the FAA issues a classified bulletin to airports and airlines, warning of a possible attack or hijacking by al-Qaeda at an airport in the eastern US, followed by further warnings in Dec.
I can keep pointing out more to you Winnow. Im sure Clinton doesnt hate his country so much he didnt do anything at all to protect it that you seem to think in every single one of your posts. It just pisses me off to no end how you can be so stupid when you clearly know what you talk about half the time when your not tring to set people off.

Al Gore did air security reform... they created the CAPPS system, which fingered something like 8 or 9 of the hijackers on 9/11.. however the stupid fucks decided that if you get fingered, all they do is make sure your luggage gets on the plane.... (you'd think they'd want everyone luggage on the plane regardless)
