Holiday Shopping

Post by Aslanna »

Why the hell do people go shopping the day after Thanksgiving? I mean sure, can find some nice deals but those are usually limited quantities and means standing in line for hours (once you find a parking spot and get into the store).

Is saving a few bucks worth putting up with all the crap that goes along with it?

I didn't have it that bad... Just dashed in and out of my first store and in my second and final store the lines took about 30 mins but I wanted the item I purchased desparately so it was worth it. I wouldn't save up all my holiday shopping for this day though, lately the deals aren't even real deals they just print regular prices in special mailers to make you think it's a bargain!

To make poor bastards like me have to be into work at 5 a.m. and not leave until 7:30 p.m.

For anyone doing holiday shopping this weekend.. Fuck you.. Other than that, try to not bust the employees balls. We get nailed pretty hard over this season and deal with a lot of pricks so show us some mercy and I guarantee we'll appreciate it.

Thanks :)

Ditto that sentiment exactly. Although you have a cake schedule compared to me. 6:30 AM to 10 PM.

Surprisingly, everyone was pretty mellow during this morning's rush at our store. Didn't hear any "raised" voices up front or around the store during the entire day, which we all definately appreciate.

I'd never dream of going out the day after Thanksgiving to shop if it was up to me but some relatives were in town and wanted to show me the new Ikea mega store. The place was huge and packed. It might be kinda of cool to look around on any other day besides the busiest one of the year.

On top of that, we went to Fry's Electronics to get a few things and the check out line zig zagged through half of the store. It was huge. Surprisingly, the line moved fast and "only" took about 30 minutes to get to a register.

Fuck holiday shopping. I won't be suckered into it again.

I bought everyone and their mothers MX-1000 mice : ) All done! I don't care who the people were on my list. "Here aunt Petunia, have a mouse!"

Yeah I was supposed to go 5 to 10 p.m. but it died off around 730 and we had enough people to cover the store so they sent me home (not that I'm complaining). It really wasn't too bad today but we did have a good amount of those annoying customers that you just want to beat with a crowbar. The 6 a.m. rush was pretty nuts but after that it never reached that peak for the rest of the day. I'm going back for a 12 - 10 tomorrow so that should be fun.

Anyone that gets out of bed before 6am to go shopping deserves to die a horrible painful death.

I bought stuff all year long to give people, and the stuff I waited on I bought online. Saved stress, hassle, time and money.

I work for a company that owns several private label credit cards as an IVR programmer - and I'm on call this weekend.

Upper level management is so paranoid that the IVRs don't go down, I have to ask permission to do the simplest of changes or fixes to the system. (4 hosts sessions go down, I usually just restart the host interface and good to go, but now I have to let someone know that I've done it).

eh we woke up when we felt like it, had a nice relaxing morning then dropped by two stores real quick. Never saw the point in harrassing people working there either, I just smile and toss them a joke to try and lighten up their day. Worked like that before, it sucks ass.

I refuse to shop on the day after thanksgiving...however this year I'm building up a new PC for my gf, so I stopped in Fry's and lo and behold, I got the DVD of season 1 of nip/tuck for $29 and a 512mb usb thumb drive for $39.

LOL,I have done that. It's exciting to see all the shoppers running around yelling because of the time.
As for Black Friday I go every year. It's exciting to see how many idiots get into fights over a toy Elmo.I don't go out that day for anything special.I just go for the excitement.
I have decided that I would rather go shopping on Black Friday and Christmas Eve instead of going shopping with my 17 & 14 yr old daughters anytime!

Well coming from someone that has to deal with assholes that are crazy(fucking stupid) enough to get up and get to my store as well as other stores at 6:00 A.M. I say thank you for not being an asshole. Trust me we appreciate it.

I had someone come in today and try to get a hard drive we had on sale during our early bird special friday (6-10).. It was saturday night at 8 and she thinks that we should still honor it. I basically told her we were out of stock on it and she was too late.. She then wanted a rain check and I told her to play a nice game of hide and go fuck yourself..But I said it nicely..

Bottom line, Kel and Ky thank you for not being assholes at this time of the year :)

i've gone out shopping on the day after thanksgiving with my mom and grandma for the past few years. but we never, EVER try to do that earlybird special crap. most of the stores around here end their early morning psychosales by 9 or 10. we just don't go out until late morning and we don't go to the mall until the evening, unless we manage to avoid the mall altogether.

this year we were out for about 10 hours and i only have a couple of small things left to buy. we all finished the bulk of our christmas gift shopping in one day. when we left target, there were cashiers waiting for customers - no lines. parking wasn't a problem all day. the longest line we had to wait in was at a department store at the mall, and that took all of 5 minutes.

i'm really not a big shopper, so the one day marathon suits me just fine.
