Protect your children!

I guess it's a miracle any of us made it past five. Are jumping ropes going to be recalled someday because of a strangling hazard?

Basides that, I'm not sure what's scarier, lead in vending machine jewelry or Allen Iverson brand kids shoes

Another good way to protect them would be to not cut off their arms.

Yeah, gosh, it's awful we have people doing their job trying to prevent harm to children. Definitely worth a post of negativity.

Some of those toys can be justified, but a Nerf Football and a shoe? If your kid is putting shoe logos in his/her mouth, don't leave the kid in your closet or better yet, pick up after yourselves FFS.

I guess the guns, knives, ammunition, etc.. (as a preteen) I got for various christmases wouldn't be on their "happy list".

I had a stuffed giraffe once. It had a music box in it. Since it was some years ago, it's music box was a big metal thing with a metal key sticking out of it's side.

Well me and my friends were playing, and throwing things around, and my friend threw that at my head (which arguable explains a lot =D ) and I had to go have stitches. =P

I would blame my friend more for throwing a metal thing at me though.

WARNING: Lawn Jarts have been banned for manufacturing and resale in the United States. The government of the United States has asked that all Jarts be destroyed.
That's just depressing, those are fun.

When I was a kid, we didn't have no pussy toy recalls! We played with real toys, with detachable pointy parts, and they'd rise up and try to slaughter you in your sleep!

Jarts, Micronauts (with the very sharp, VERY spring loaded missiles, bow and arrows,....we had them all. I am surprised my brother and I survived childhood in one piece. No helmets riding bikes either!

I just wonder, besides the more litigious society we are now, if this is a product of families having far fewer children. In other words, each subsequent child receives less and less protection from the parents once they realize how resiliant they are. A joke I heard froma mother of three once was when your 1st child drops a pacifier, you pick it up off of the floor, wash it, sanatize it, dry it, than give it back. 2nd child drops it, you wipe it off with a paper towel than give it back. 3rd child, you just say fuck it, and give it back.
No helmets riding bikes either!
Hell, the school buses didn't even have seat belts. The back of the seat in front of you was solid steel backing with a sloid steel bar. Bus crashes and you have 45 or so little projectiles bouncing off of steel bars. Jeez, ever sit in the back seat of a school bus when you go over a bump? You could frikken launch yourself.

Sitting at the back of the bus was always the desired spot for that very reason. And yea, the bike helmets is great. We were lucky to have tires!

You know that the NTSB has proven that seat belts in buses are actually MORE likely to cause injury than to prevent it? True facts from the Transportation Office.

No kidding. I got hurt pleanty of times using *unsafe* toys. As a kid I broke my leg - twice, my colar bone, severly spraigned my ankle (had cast), and had countless lesser injuries, including a few from the horrifying Jarts. Jarts were awsome! I also had a bunch of micronaugts. Best action figure toys ever made. Lots of spring-loaded projectiles. Lots of tiny, removable parts. But they completely rocked. There has never been a action figure set made since with their versatility. It is sad to look at the toys available to kids these days. Lucky for them they have better video options than we did - and some other neat technological advancements in toys too. Still, I think I prefered my time. Too bad we can't have both.

I miss lawn darts. I liked the blue ones. That link only shoes red and yellow.. But pretty sure there were blue ones too.
In the year 1988, the Consumer Product Safety Commision banned yard darts, making them illegal to sell or even play in the United States. You can be arrested for selling or even playing the game.
Oh nos!
You can buy swords, stun guns and chinese throwing stars on eBay, but it's a big no-no to sell yard darts.
Denied!

Hey, Midnyte, want to play a round or two of Jarts?

And I needed stitches because I turned my head while riding my bike and crashed into a parked car. I also needed stitches when I collided with another kid playing ice hockey around 8. Kids break legs sliding into second base, poke their eyes of nerf pops, etc. It happens. Unless you want everyone to be sequestered off playing nothing but video games their entire lives, injuries will happen.

Even doing that injuries can happen:

Repetitive stress injury... Carpal tunnel.. Seizures!!

I say we ban video games just to be safe.

"I cut her arms off," Schlosser replied, as the hymn "He Touched Me" played in the background.
That was a quote from the link mentioned previously in this thread. Do you think she started playing the hymn before, during, or after she cut her baby's arms off? I would think it was during, because she sounds like an extremely spiritual person.

Ha ha. Loyalty. That's rich. Just because we were in the same guild (hey, didn't you quit again?) doesn't change the fact that I think you're a moron.

Actually, it was Legion.

And for the record I am still in the guild. And showing up to (most) every raid. Whereas the other person quit. So if anyone is deserving of the 'no loyalty' tag it's not me.

I know it was Legion : ) My post was of the random hijack variety.

For fun factor, CT edged out Sovereign for me but for actual accomplishments, Legion/Ixtlan was the win.

I retired, not quit. I still have my tag. In EQ1 world I will always be Sovereign. But, I would prefer not airing guild stuff out on the boards thank you very much.

Midnyte - I agree with him much of the time when it comes to posts made here on VV

Aslanna - I disagree with her much of the time when it comes to posts made here on VV

I was guilded with Midnyte. I am still guilded with Aslanna. I like them both. We can agree to disagree...but when we are in the game and having fun it really doesn't matter who gives a rats ass about what in real life. Unless of course one of you jackoffs is claiming that Emperor Crush did not win the popular vote but got into office anyway and has secret dealings with Felwithe.

I don't see why we all cannot just get along in peace and harmony without all of this angst.

I agree. This is my fault. I shouldn't said anything about loyalty. In all my years here I wouldn't call out someone from my guild out of "my idea" of loyalty to a fellow guildmate. I shouldn't have imposed my standards upon others. I was wrong and I apologize.

294,000 Nerf Big Play Footballs distributed by Hasbro

The football contains a hard plastic interior frame that can pose a risk of facial cuts. Nine incidents of facial injuries have been reported, including eight that required stitches or medical attention.
I'm surprised they haven't declared baseballs a hazard. For the safety of children everywhere they'll hopefully restrict purchases to 18 years or older.
