Jeeze...you'd think that after such a huge find, the state would stop. I'm guessing that the Corps of Engineer's is gonna pull the permit soon.

Well, I live about 30 miles from Hood Canal(where this is taking place), and 10 miles from a large reservation for the Soquamish tribe. It seem like every tribe in the pacific northwest has been outraged by this event. There have been gatherings in my area ranging from almost-riots, to respectful spiritual vigils. Mostly now I just since a huge depression atleast within my native friends and their families.

I can't imagine how it must feel, but as someone with only loose connections to a northwest tribe and no bloodline connecting me to them, I'm feeling incredibly depressed myself. I grew up going to a Lutheran sunday school as well as a tribal school of the same sort, because my parents wanted me to have a balanced spiritual side. In many ways I have more respect for them and their traditions than I do for any other American culture. They have the most beautiful sense of spirituality, a deep connection and balance with nature and a respect for their elders and ancestors. Such people do not deserve this crap.

The scariest part about either of the poltergeist movies was that tiny old lady with the freaky voice.

The solution will require an infusion of federal money to reroute the project. The only question is where does it come from (which budget).

Aside of the stupid Poltergeist jokes, this is a fucking blunder of epic proportions. We have stumbled onto one of the most major archaeological finds in the history of the NW, and the assholes at the state want to put a fucking highway over it.

But the tribe is insisting the state keep exploring for remains the tribe does not want entombed below a 10-acre concrete slab. Such a barrier would condemn the spirits of the dead buried below to be forever separated from their loved ones, said Frances Charles, chairwoman of the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe.

As far as I know, I-5 goes from mexican border to canadian border.

That is, in fact, the same I-90.

I grew up in that county..in fact im heading there in a few days to go home for the holiday.

This bridge project has been voted on and voted on a billion times and stressed that its a bad idea because of a "suspected" burial ground. It's sad t learn they actually went through with it.... :(

It's especially sad because they're being such ass hats now that there DEFINITELY FUCKING IS a burial site there. Just admit that you were stupid and STOP FUKING UP THE DIG SITE!!!
