Okay, let me preface this by saying once again that Kate Beckinsale is HAWT

This movie flies, very little drag time except for the overall length, at times it felt like I was in a lopping chase scene from "The Rock" it hasd the Brucheimer(sp?) feel to it. Including a carriage versus vamps chase scene. But that being said the movie was about 30-40 minutes too long, and some solid editing could have helped it.
Costuming: All cool, and well done, nothing proerly period or interesting, but Kate looks hot, and I am sure Wolverine looks good to the chickies.
Fight Sequences: Man I hate the Matrix more and more everyday, way too many CGI altered and entirely CGI fight scenes, If you saw Blade @ you saw these fight scenes already, but once again Kate brandishing a sword is hot.
Scenery: Nice CGI work, but I could tell most of it was CGI work. Movie Makers really need to wait ten years and still do some real stuff in the meantuime while the tech stabilizes a little.
Plot: Drac is bad, monsters are bad, get it?
Overall I did not mind it but it is def a DVD rental, not a theatre must see.

The wait for a movie on DVD is so short these days. I'm finding very little motivation to go to the movies after getting a home theater projector. Pay about double for the movie, own it and watch at home on a 10 foot screen with great picture and sound or wait and watch it in HD on HBO. Either way, no smelly theaters, crying babies, cell phones, 10.00 snacks, lines, and you get a better picture and AC3 or DTS sound. Socially, there's got to be something better to do than go to the movies.
The one thing lacking at home is previews but HDNet has a half hour show that is 100% movie previews in High Definition. Good stuff!

I saw Hugh Jackman interviewed by Bob Costas on HBO. He's a funny guy and doesn't seem full of himself. I've enjoyed his roles in X-Men and Swordfish. Hopefully he'll land some good roles in the next few years. There's always X-Men 3. All the original actors signed on for three X-Men movies so Halle Berry's stuck too! I wouldn't say stuck but Halle seems to think black women are only given lame roles and she considers Storm one of them. I guess she didn't read the comic as Storm isn't an airhead or shallow character but it seems that way when Halle plays her. Lets blame the director!

I loved this, saw it twice.
The ending was super depressing, but..
I loved the vamp brides. Very, very well acted, imo.
Drac was a bit of an overactor, and Frankenstine's Monster just seemed.. wimpy.
I didn't find any major complaints with it at all.. maybe a little long, but other than that.. looking forward to sequels.
ps: The Friar. My new hero.

Yeah he is a really interesting guy. He was born into a wealthy faimly and went to one of the best private schools in Australia. He played every sport they had to offer, including polo. Yet he's not full of himself at all and Ive heard he's truly one of the nicest people in Hollywood, ever. Probably because he has practiced meditation for over 15 years. That will keep a guy like him well-grounded to say the least...I saw Hugh Jackman interviewed by Bob Costas on HBO. He's a funny guy and doesn't seem full of himself.
He's also is getting the highest praise possible for his starring role in a broadway play called The Boy from Oz.
It's weird, this guy is like some sort of prodigy, yet he is doing these B movies. I remember hearing him say that he just has too much fun in action roles, because he loves learning/doing fun stunts and he wants to get them over with when he is still young/fit. I really hope he starts looking for some more serious roles, because he has potential far beyond that of these sci-fi roles.
Saw it yesterday and I enjoyed it. I mean it isn't an an Oscar caliber film, but then again I didn't go into looking for that. With the exception of the guy playing Dracula, the acting was good. The story was engaging enough and the cgi was good. Then again I really liked The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. Oh and Kate Beckinsale looks uber hot with a tan

The costumes were good, after that everything else sucked.
The CGI was visually appealing, like most million-dollar-budget cgi scenes are. But it was so obvious that it was cgi that it took away from the movie.
Apart from the guy that played the monk, the acting was poor. I think a lot of the actors have talent, but the script / story / plot / ect. robbed them of any chance to show their talents. I can not imagine a worse actor to use as dracula.
Multiple solar systems could fit inside the plot holes, it was ridicilous. Someone want to explain to me how they got out of castle dracula?
I rarely boo in a movie. But sometimes you just have to let it out.

lol just got back from seeing this movie.
It sucked ass.
The only good thing about it was Bakara and I had fun laughing at the bad dialogue, horrible acting, flat characters, and over-blown sentimentality.

Set in 1877 and a vampire says "too bad, so sad" I wanted to puke right then and there. The dialogue was horrid, Dracula was the worst acting job ever. Ever. I loved the fight scenes and special effects however. I found myself saying "this is so freakin pathetic and obvious" more than I did "this is cool" though.
6 out of 10 just because the werewolf scenes owned hardcore.

The action wasn't choreographed all that well in my books. I actually fell asleep for part of the movie, woke up and it was like I didn't miss a beat because of the zero plot development. The only part I did enjoy was the first fight with Van Helsing and Hyde. Not quite sure, but I found it amusing for some reason.

I am still trying to get over the cheesy face in the clouds bit, if I can get past that I would actually watch it again on DVD sometimes. But it is damn hard to forgive, but the lure of Kate is a strong one.

I didn't mind it.. but the CGI and action overexaggerations were a bit overdone.
And the dialogue was pure comedy. I have never beeen to the sea... I bet the sea is sooo bootyful !
The scene at the end.. my friend and I started cracking up because it reminded us of the scene where Obiwan, Darth Vader and Yoda are ghost-like and hanging out looking happily at Luke. LMAO.
But the friar owned

I saw this finally. Really shitty movie. Good looking chicks though. Did anyone else see the microphone booms in a bunch of scenes? That really killed the movie for me. How can a director expect you to like the movie when they don't fix obvious shit like that. I wouldn't have a problem if it was just one scene but it must have been in 8 different scenes at my theatre. I thought the mike was going to hit the actors in the head.
I almost walked out but I just could not believe it could get any worse and the girls were really cute.

That might not be the movies fault, if you see microphones lots of times in a movie thats shouldnt have obvious mistakes like that in it, its usually the theaters fault.Deward wrote:I saw this finally. Found a post a while back SOMEWHERE on the IMBD discussion boards about the very same problem, and a theater manager gave a quite good and lenghty explanation that im sure you can find if you wanna look around some, but basically a movie are not filmed in a ratio that fit a theater screen, its higher (and possibly wider, cant remember). That are not cut away on the rolls of film the theater gets, so when they are playing a movie, they align it by putting a filter on the camera that fit the picture to theater size.
BUT if the theater dont align it properly, problems like microphones, halfway dissappearing subtitles and the like happens.
So if you see stuff like that, and noone else from other reviews seems to have noticed it, its most likely the theater thats to blame.
All that being said, i share GUComics view of Van Helsing after wasting 2 hours of my life seeing it, although i did not soak my computer in bleach to remove any residual suck.

When this was in theaters, I went to see it with my friend, and we both walked out before hopefully losing too many brain cells. How the fuck can people enjoy this kind of shit sober?
"The same guy that made the Mummy" ... that right there screams "steaming pile of high budget celluloid crap" One of those moments where I feel like "I sat in that theater for at LEAST an hour, and I'll never get that hour back"
Ok, I'm done.
