PvP in general isn't that much fun, except against freinds.

Ganking newbies is boring, so is getting ganked.

There's enough pvp on the normal servers for me. A pvp server just screams b.net retard gankfest to me. Also, I'm not going to be able to play enough to compete well in pvp. What I've noticed is that most pvp consists of a group of people about 5-10 lvls higher than you killing you in your noob area.

omgz looks like we are the only ones to PvP Dre!

I found the PvP aspect exciting even though I didnt get involved in it much. The idea of getting a group of folks together to raid against Alliance people (REAL people for a change) makes for an interesting change in dynamic. Then there are the spontaneous fights when an Alliance person comes to Horde territory and everyone gangs up to kick her/her ass.

I'll probably play Horde on PvE, Alliance on PvP (alt).

Exactly what pvp is there on normal servers? Don't say dueling, that's not pvp in the sense I mean.

I hate the big "raids" idiots make on enemy towns. I like when I'm out playing the game being able to smack down some opposition fools (or be smacked down). I hate people from the other team trying to make nice with me. PvP will attract a lot of idiots, A LOT, it's true... but that means I get to beat down idiots!

Maybe I've misunderstood but isn't PvP in WoW mean Horde vs. Alliance ONLY and PvE means you can't even kill a member of the opposing factions? When I was on the PvP server I couldn't kill anyone of the same faction, only those of the opposing faction.

I was on a PvE last night, and I participated in repulsing some alliance fags. All I did was aim and shoot. I believe these guys were already flagged PvP, and my action flagged me for PvP as well.

I'm definitely going PvP. I've had way too much with it over the course of the open beta.

Most of the Bnet retards that people are speaking of were in a FREE online beta. I doubt most of them will be willing to pay a monthly fee to be retarded.

Yes, you can type /pvp to become pvp'able for a limited time, but it relys on the other person doing it or attacking you, otherwise you're left sitting there holding you dick. Attacking an NPC flagged as a member of the opposite team will also turn you pvp for a time.

Here is the final word. btw, imo, toggling pvp on and off is PUSSY. Either go pvp or dont go pvp.

I never once got attacked as a newb playing in my realm. Pvp does not mean free for all. You still can only attack players in the other faction. This old UO concept of pvp is NOT what WoW pvp is about.

Nope I've never played on the Rallos zek PvP server but I did play on Vallon Zek Team PvP server and had a ton of fun playing it. I never really had a problem there nor have I had any problems with the PvP servers on WoW.

PVP works 3 ways on PvE servers. One, you type /pvp and can attack others who also do /pvp, 2 arenas, or the most fun option IMO which is attacking any opposing faction NPCs. When you attack an NPC it autoflags you pvp, then any opposing player who attacks you is likewise flagged pvp(as well as if you heal). That usually means raiding cities or towns, which can be good fun. It's good enough for people like me who like pvp but want to avoid ther gankfest that already happens regularly on open beta PVP servers.

I think hey need some sort of skill point, exp, or item rewards, for raiding towns. They could make town raids into QUESTS(do they already?). FOr instance, have a spy NPC in a nearby cave outside of a town to give quests to raids. Could have targets within town to obtain or NPCs to kill. They could be challenging PvE quests. Perhaps triggering an attack quest would send up a global defense message, and people would come to the town to defend it...Something like that.

/agree

Tried PvP and didn't care for it. a lvl 26 is not a challenge for a lvl 60.

Sticking with PvE since most probebly won't care about the faction hits they will be putting in for the ganking crap.

There were a number of mid 20s alliance players that came to the barrens to kill level 15-20 folks. It was pretty stupid, I've no doubt that will be pretty common within a month or so of release. Just like the 'zeks in EQ which (I thought) pretty much sucked.

I don't think I will even have an alt on a PvE server. The main thing that finally pulled me into WoW was PvP. Sure there are ways to get into PvP on the other servers, but why go through the added trouble when you can just stalk your target and take them out. Players that went to The Barrens were just waiting on someone silly enough to attack them so they could finish them off. On the day before Beta ended, I took a group of low level 20's into Alliance Territories and did the same thing (something I would not do if Beta wasn't over).

They haven't released much information yet, but I think the battleground feature they're planning on implementing is going to be the best PvP element in WoW. So far, it sounds similar to the battlegrounds in DAoC, with PvP-specific zones containing towns and castles that can change hands, siege weaponry, zone-specific PvP quests, etc.
I plan on steering clear of the PvP servers, so I'm really hoping that they plan on offering this on the PvE servers.

The only reason people got ganked in the barrens was because they attacked the group of alliance players. If you're in friendly territory, then you can't be attacked by people from the opposing faction. Unless you heal someone who is or attack someone from the opposing faction.

PVP all the way here. I loooove the element of surprise on this server. So many times I have played and totally had a surprise attack on me (which I always lost) but laughed the whole way. Fun stuff indeed.

Good times...

As a Tauren Feral Druid, I never really had too many problems with getting jumped unless it was by a mostly full group. I could usually War Stomp, cast Rejuv and Nature's Grasp on myself, hit cat/travel form, and get away. I could almost hear the Alliance creeps bitching as I got away since they were almost always at LEAST 3 levels higher than me and attacking when I had just finished off a mob.

The PvP in this game seems to be pretty much on par with DAoC, but I haven't seen the actual benefits for it yet since I can't see worldofwarcraft.com from work.

There are honorable kills and there are dishonorable kills. You earn honor for killing opponents at or near your level, and more honor still if you kill a higher level player character, as opposed to an NPC. There are also dishonorable kills, and these would include killing lower level PCs and NPCs, and especially non-aggressive NPCs like gryphon masters and quest givers. If you repeatedly make dishonorable kills, you'll eventually go into the negative ranks, and lose experience and become attackable on sight by both factions. Our intention is to punish dishonorable behavior and reward honorable PvP play.
no "ganking" without a price. And with the PvP rankings and other stuff (see the other thread started by Dregor) I've decided to definitely NOT have any PvE characters, no matter where everyone else goes. PvP all the way baby!

Straight up PVP here, none of that pussy conditional PVP crap thx
I think the honor system looks good on paper. We'll see how it plays out. I think it would be funny to off someone on my side because he was bein dishonorable.

So let me see if I get this right...

PvE can become PvP if both characters desire or if you attack an NPC from the other faction.

PvP players can become of both want it but they are always PvP with other faction. There is no PvP within your faction unless you desire it? Is that correct?

You're going to have those people around, there won't be that many of them but they'll be a pain in the ass for everyone around.

I'll pass, dealt with them in other games already.

In PvE if you attack an NPC of the opposing faction, you are "open" to be attacked by any player of that faction, BUT you still cannot attack any player of the opposing faction unless they are flagged PvP or they attack you.

In PvP, the only PvP between members of the same faction are duals where both parties agree to it (handled like in EQ).

Having started on a closed PVP server. And having had 2 high level chars in DAoC, I can tell you its NOTHING like daoc.

We need a "how long till the PVP players go PVE" poll.
