Now the dream was over.

Kerry sat in the kitchen, sipping a bowl of soup, and shook his head as he turned to a friend and said simply, "We worked so hard." There were tears and hugs.

Pretty complete write-up looking back at the Kerry campaign and why he lost. Must be a lot of "I told you so" attitude. Definitely a race to remember.

Using the term 'Trail of Tears" to refer to one subpar candidate losing to another after both spent enough money to feed every hungry child in the country for the next 4 years is fucking offensive.

Do you have any idea of what the Trail of tears was? Fucking rednecks piss me off.

Facinating read. My ancestors were deported from their homeland by the british circa 1755. I'm a decendant of some of the people that fled the deportation and re-settled in Northern New-Brunswick. I bear the same last name as the person that actually founded my home town 300 years ago.

For those of you who are overseas or otherwise unaware, the Trail of Tears is the name of the forced migration of the Cherokee Indiands that occured in 1838 and 1839. During the 1000 march to their new "home", over 4000 indians were killed due to the poor conditions under which they were forced to travel. The reason behind the removal of this people was the possibility of finding gold in their homeland in Georgia. It was a dark moment in American history.

The (multiple) paths of this resettlment started in North Carolina and Georgia and ended in Oklahoma.

However there are a lot of Casinos now in OK right across the boarder from FS and the Indians there are making mucho $$$ Gratz to them! Arkansas will never have gambling, hell like 75% of the people voted FOR the Marraige amendment they aren't going to want gambling in their state, even if it did help the schools etc... they have to put on the front that they are "good folk" Of course many of those people drive to Tunica every couple of weeks but hey, whos counting right?
