pretty slick character screens

Post by Tenuvil »

I clicked on Akaran's sig and saw for the first time the character info pages that SOE is providing EQ2 players. Looks pretty good, appears to have all the main stats and since it's based off your actual character (a la Magelo Authentic) no way to fake your gear/stats.

Guess EQ2 is looking to make Magelo obsolete? I'd assume since EQ2 has this that there is no provision to use Magelo (or some other tool) rather than SOE for character info pages?

For the first motnh of your subscription, you get that screen and a few other things for free, if I recall right, then it drops down to just the basics for about 99cents per.

Don't hold me to that because I'm not 100% sure.

The server stability for the site is absolute shit though, no items work and everything loads incredibly slow.

The guild pages are pretty cool as well showing money, guild points earned, kills, etc. Skeevy had more kills than Skeevo!

I didn't know they would be charging for that. Seemed like a nice extra.

Hahah.. charging for it... what a joke SoE has become over the years, and they're not even ashamed of it.

Please edit this negative post!

I think it should be free but it's not something that says is included in the game you buy. It's nice but not worth paying for IMO.

Gods forbid that a for-profit corporation fulfill the obligation to it's shareholders to try to make money by offering value added services. THOSE BASTARDS!!!!11! It's a service that people are obviously willing to pay for, if the apparent number of Magelo subscribers is any indication (also around a buck a month), so why the fuck exactly should they give the extra service away for free, or be ashamed for charging? Just as with Magelo, those that feel the service merits the extra dollar will pay, and those that do not won't. What's the big deal?

A majority of those who use Magelo use the free portion of it, which is basically the same as the pay section without the automatic updater and a useless item search. What they're doing here is charging people to be able to wave their virtual dicks around - when they should instead either 1) Add the dollar fee to the monthly fee making it permanently accessible to everyone or 2) Don't charge anything at all. I can guarantee that if Magelo comes out with an eq2 version (for free but with the same auto-update pay option for leetd00ds) then many people would instead use Magelo and avoid the dollar fee. Why should SoE be ashamed? You would think they're already making enough money purely off game sales and monthly fees alone, but no, it's just another way to waste your money, and SoE's greed shines through. Those who actually go ahead and pay for the service should feel ashamed too, considering that in this early stage of the game most of the players are exactly the same gear and skill wise. Besides, chances are the people who are looking at these individual pages is the character owner themselves, who could easily see the same information in game.
I have come to the conclusion that Rellix is a fuckstain.
Congratulations, want a trophy? How about you go fuck yourself instead while you think I actually care.

The little survey they had people taking at the NO FF was pretty amusing. The questions about how I'd respond to SOE controlled auction sites was especially funny. Anyone have the screenshot Sean doctored with all the corporate logos and the credit card confirmation window? Inspirational I think.
