Star Ocean

Post by Funkmasterr »

I was just looking for any feedback anyone had about the new star ocean for ps2. I figured someone had to have played it here, and was going to pick it up after I am done with GTA but just wanted to see what people thought of it before I spent the money :)

My Roommate plays it and loves it -- it will suck up your time however. Now personally I think the game sucks, mainly because of the 3rd person view (you can barely see what's in front of you) but also because I hate PS rpg's in general. I would say it's a fake FF game, crappy story line and the usual 3 team members fighting. The fighting isn't turn based however, completely real time. Get used to hearing "BLADE OF FURY." (the main character first and best move) about every 5 seconds (drives me nuts sometimes).

If you like ps rpg's then go for it - but definately buy the guide too (it's quite difficult without it my roommate says).

I'm liking it so far though I'm only about 12 hours into the game. Fights are real-time kind of like .hack's battle system but unlike .hack, this game has actually kept my interest. Rellix is right too.. It will suck up your time just like most other RPG's. :) Rent or borrow this if you can first to be sure it's a game you'll want to play all the way through...

Not that it really matters but the lady who does Faye Valentine's voice from Bebop does the voice for one of the characters. :)

If you're looking for another rpg, try checking out "Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne" also. IGN Review here: http://ps2.ign.com/articles/550/550199p1.html. Got this for my sister for her b-day and she absolutely loves it. From what I've read and what shes told me, it's pretty dark and lots of fun. Most of the gameplay looks like a freakin cartoon. Can't wait for her to finish the damn thing so I can play it. ;)

hmm. I think I will pick it up, I have played at least one other star ocean game I can think of (on the ps1) which I still have somewhere, but I recall having fun with it. I am just trying to remember if that was the game where you forged materials and stuff like that.

There's a lot of crafting skills i see him do (and he looks pretty bored when he's 'forced' to do them).
