We all assumed it will seeing how GTA3 and GTA Vice City came out on the xbox and pc eventually. It's good to have reassurance!First revealed in January of this year, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is all set to hit the PS2 in October 19th (potential delays excluded) here in the U.S. and later in 2005 on PC and Xbox.

Enjoy it 6 months after the rest of us are done with it. Do you like sloppy seconds in other areas of life?

Checked GTA-San Andreas out on the PS2 last night. GTA fans will like it for sure. It has the same easy to use controls with upgraded graphics.
PS2 gets the props for getting this game first but as with GTA 3/Vice City, XBox will look and play the game better. I am much more comfortable with using the triggers for gas/breaks than pressing a button or tapping it rapidly to speed up.
You start out a little lower in the pecking order. I got capped while cruising with the homies on my bicycle. There's a little more customization. You can go to the barber and get a new do. I can't afford corn rows yet!
Good GTA entertainment. I'll pick this up when it's released for XBox.

Ah yes, you can buy clothes in this one as well and change them in your bedroom.
I beat up a pimp to verify that blood flys off the face after you get them on the ground and start kicking them in the head (20 Xs). You don't have easy access to a crow bar this time either. More stuff to buy and earn to make the game interesting.
The graphics are very nice. I didn't mean to downplay them because of the PS2 factor. You'll still like them.
Although I don't like the PS2 controls, you can pop wheelies and bunny hop etc on your bicycle. The physics are little better as is the interactivity with the environment as you can scale fences and have a little more freedom to run around.
I have found no way to pull up my pants so my underwear doesn't show.

Actually, I was just basing it on the article that Dups posted which says, barring delays, it was released on the 19th. Since today is the 22nd...

Relax Sparky. That wasn't an affront. I've been following the game for quite a while and I was trying to save you a trip to EBgames only to be disappointed when the game doesn't come out for another week.
There's an excellent site for all the latest GTA:SA news that I've been reading: http://www.planetgrandtheftauto.com
They have some nice mods for some of the older games as well.

They (EB) called me yesterday and said it had come in and would be available for pickup after 7 tommorow night.

I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

Hopefully, EB is going to ship the day they get the game. They're usually pretty good about that, so hopefully, I'll have the game this week.

I'm not a GTA expert and didn't have much time to play the game this weekend but I was pretty proud of getting my gang colors, beating up my first pusher, and buying my first set of expensive hightops. I feel the gang has accepted me and that I'm one of the homies. I haven't spent a dime on prostitutes yet.
This game would be a 10/10 if the controls were a little better. I get frustrated doing a drive by. The trailing camera does some funny stuff at times and during a car chase it makes it hard to follow.
People that have always played this game on the PS2 will be fine with it but if you've played the upgraded XBox release of GTA3 and Vice City then you'll probably not be happy with the controls.
The game does a good job with the cut scenes and character development. The city is well done. I got broadsided by a freight train crossing the tracks. The chances of that train hitting me at the right time had to have been pretty low but that's what makes GTA cool.
Has anyone played this on both the PS2 and PC versions of Vice? Are the controls easier on the PC? If it's released around the same time for PC and XBox, I may go for the PC for the ease of mouse aiming and free motion.

The PC controls in VC were FPS style. W-A-S-D with mouselook. The problem with the PC was controlling the helicopters and motorcycles because you had to set up additional keys to control the pitch and unlike with a joystick, to maintain a pitch you had to tap the keys instead of just holding the joystick at a specific angle (hope that was clear).
IMHO, the real advantage of playing it on a PC is 1600x1200. It looks fantastic on a PC.

The line was 60+ deep at EB tonight at 7. I couldn't get my hands on it tonight.

Masteen Killa and his crew...chugging Colt 45's and playing some dominoes in the crib...along comes Winnsta X with a car loaded full of Uzi packing homies...masteen wrote:My shit shipped this morning. I played the game last night for about 3 hours.
Rockstar has really outdone themselves this time. The city, and the myriad of activities you can do is incredible. It has more content than most MMOGs on the market today. The graphics are incredible. The voice acting is the BEST of any video game, ever.
There is SO much to do. Minigames galore. Play basketball, work out. This morning I was playing a Dance Dance Revolution type game with a low rider where you had to make the car dance to the music. Working out is neither annoying or tedious. It doesn't take long to make yourself a bad motherfucker, and it's very easy to maintain. There are plenty of hairstyles, clothing styles, etc. for any look you'd want.
The ability to recruit a few of your homies to drive with you to a mission and have them just open up from the window of the car when a rival gang member is on the side of the street is pretty damn cool.
The only things I don't like... I don't really like the camera. It seems to lag too much, and sometimes zoom in too close when I don't want it to. This makes targetting a real pain in the ass, but it's something that I'm working toward getting used to (I'd kill for a mouse and mouselook). The good news is that for the most part, you don't have to target anymore. You can just look in the direction where the bad guys are and hold R1 and they'll be targetted. I've played both GTA3 and GTA:VC on the computer, and though that interface had it's problems, I prefer it, and the PS2 controller is taking some getting used to.
One word of advice that I learned the hard way. Not really a spoiler, but I'll tag it anyway:

Sounds like you have the same issues with the camera and controls. I really wish there wasn't an exclusive deal with Rock Star and PS2 over GTA games. I hope they're getting a lot of money for holding back all that extra cash Rock Star would get by releasing to the PC and XBox at the same time...they will get most of that money eventually but maybe not all that they would have gotten with a simultaneous release.noel wrote:

I have been having a lot of fun with it, I am at the part right now where
Changing camera angles has been a bit of a pain for me too, but thats about it.
My ps2 was broken so I went out and bought one of the new compact ones since I had paid for this game.
Gamestop(formerly funcoland) had this game for release after 6pm last night, I got there early and there were only about 5 others, but by the time 6 rolled around and I walked out with my game, there were probably 50 people waiting outside.

Language in this game is horrid, don't even think about playing this around children or easily offended people.
