You'd be suprised how much people do care. I knew two guys in their late 20's who never dated despite the fact that they always had chicks interested in them. These guys didn't know each other btw and their friends gave them some shit for not seeming to be interested in girls. Rumors of the possibility of them being gay went around their respective circles and you can bet they knew what their friends thought. These guys were not meathead frat boys either. I can just imagine what kind of hell those types would put their friends through.
They could have been gay, but I think its unlikely. One of them got fed up with the pressure and started dating my cousin. It was obvious he didn't have anything in common with her and showed little interest in her in public, but she poked and prodded him until he let her move in and then caved when she poked and prodded for marriage. They are divorced now. He finally blew up and told her he never wanted to live with her, much less marry her. She was a cover, imo. Something to keep the guys off his back.
