I saw it at... umm... Suncoast one day, so I picked it up. You can order them from the View Askew website, as well I think.

This is the picture that belongs on the front page of this site I think
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

Xou there are many things in life to poke fun at. One of them is not JC.
I wonder how this thread would be perceived if you had Buddy Mohammed saying something (Fatwah on Xou). It is very easy to say lighten up man it is all in fun however certain topics are taboo or belong in the retards section. This one happens to fall into both catagories.

Yeah start with the religious fanatic flames, but remember that Jesus Christ was not about "Organized Religion" his message was one that many could benefit from today and if that makes him and the many who believe in him a target of ridicule I am disgusted.

Cheers

I'll assume that you haven't seen Dogma.
Buddy Christ was something from that movie.

It has no religious link/value other than being a prop of an "uplifting" depiction of good ole JC.

I think No holds barred discussion says it all.

You want to say anything that comes to your mind? You're allowed, just don't expect people to agree. But to tell someone they can't post something because it offends is not the nature of this board, sorry.

Being sensitive here, if it offends you, sorry, don't read it.

If offending people was punishable I would be deal long ago.

No, there is no sarcasm in my post, I want my point to come across clearly.

On a humorous sidenote. I saw a Kevin Smith interview once on Leno I think where they were talking about the weekend Dogma came out. I'm sure some of you remember that some religious right wing nuts actaully went out to theathers and protested the movie.

Kevin heard of a protest in his area and decided to draw up some posters against Dogma and go protest with the masses. They claimed that there would be approx. 200 people there but would up only being 15-20. So he just stood there with then protesting and actually got interviewed on Local TV in Jersey. The journalist had to do a double take on her notes. "Aren't you the director of the movie?" "Me? No." and he gave a short interview berating his own movie.

Apparently his friends/family called him that night while watching the news telling him that there was somebody that looked exactly like him bashing his movie on TV.

I haven't checked but viewaskew.com usually keeps his interviews in different media on the site. I think this is when he was going around promoting the Spiderman comicbook story he'd written not too long ago.

EDIT - Here's the link to that segment.

Ebumar your flame was weak, who said I was Catholic or religious for that matter. FUCKTARD. No I have not seen the movie Dogma, nor do I give a rats ass for your rickshaw comments. I doubt anyone could get you to see the light from so far up your own ass.

The reason for my comments was that religion is something that is very personal for a lot of people, and the boards have been boring for a day or two.

Most retarded thing you said while you doubtlessly wear your assless chaps sitting on your vinyl computer chair ...

Actually, CNN had an article that was the most conclusive proof yet (physical proof that is) that there was a Jesus Christ. Of course, there is quite a bit written about him. Then again, show me the pyhsical proof that there was ever an individual names Christopher Columbus or Pythagorus or many of the "famous" people from ancient history. I would say that in most cases you will only find references and manuscripts that speak of them...and not written specifically by them.

Even if they do prove that a guy named Jesus existed, he's still just a guy. He was probably a little wiser than Jerry Falwell though.

I won't bash religions but I do wonder about all these "Saints" and their miracles considering our present day saint mary's miracle seems pretty weak at best. It just makes you wonder how exaggerated the other saints miracles were in the past.

I'd tag someone a saint if they could keep the EQ servers up for 24 hours after an expansion release. That'd be a miracle to me.

When I read anything like that, I replace God or Jesus Christ with David Blaine. It's more realistic and fun that way. Why, here are some quotes from this very board!

There's no need for that Ebu... differing views on religion is no basis for needing to hax0r someone irl! So knock it off before I have to like, regulate or something.

As for the humorous depiction of Jesus Christ.. there was none. The statue in the picture is Buddy Christ, a fictional character from a movie. =)

Kevin Smith actually is a Catholic. A lot of the money made from the film Dogma went to the Catholic Church. I try to explain that to my wife (also Catholic as is her entire family) but she won't hear any of it. She won't watch any movie in that series. I think it is mainly because she thinks they are stupid and juvenile not because they rip on religion in Dogma.

While most scholars agree that Jesus existed, no physical evidence from the first century has ever been conclusively tied with his life.

Whether "Jesus of Nazareth" existed as a historical figure is entirely different than whether or not "Jesus of Nazareth" was the "Son of God".

2 seperate issues.

I can see how those who want to believe in the latter, are buoyed by increasing evidence in the former.

There is every reason to believe that Muhammed, the Buddha, and several other central religious figures were also in fact real human beings. That has nothing to do with the authentication of any religious doctrines.

Obviously the religious teachings of all 3 of those, while having common threads, are mutually exclusive. They cannot all be "True".

I had just got up and had my mom in my face telling me to go to church more often, so I come here and find this gem of a thread and couldnt handle it anymore...
