The mars rovers are still going strong. 150+ days after their official mission end, they are still doing great science. Clearly well worth the investment.
The cracks in this image are now thought to be mudcracks.
"There is at least as much need to curb the cruel greed and arrogance of part of the world of capital, to curb the cruel greed and violence of part of the world of labor, as to check a cruel and unhealthy militarism in international relationships." -Theodore Roosevelt
Any presidential candidate that said they were going to quadruple our space exploration budget would get my vote. We should be manufacturing planetary probes, solar probes, anal probes, comet, asteroid, and lunar probes off assembly lines and launching one every week. The cost is great because we make so few...NASA does a nice job in creating cloned missions in case of failure but we need even more.
A probe for every planet and planetary satellite in our solar system by 2010 would be my slogan!
I agree Winnow. Our greatest hope lies in exploring our solar system and making more huge advances in science, medicine, etc. due to the space program. Now all we have to do is find a way to create an atmosphere.

That's not enough. I said 4Xs!
Plus I have zero faith on him actually following through on anything. Kerry has probably announced a 50% increase in every area of the government. He also plans to add an entire division to the military.

Didn't Bush announce tax cuts in spite of the government being broke? Two can play the make-the-money-up game!
Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable, let's prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all. - Douglas Adams

I don't have any faith in Bush either! I'm an atheist!

Isn't it liberating to detest every politician equally?
