Bush Campaign Headquarters Burglarized

Friday, October 01, 2004

SEATTLE — Three laptop computers containing campaign plans were stolen overnight from the Bush-Cheney state headquarters office, Republican officials said Friday.

Between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m., after the last campaign worker had gone home from the office in the Seattle suburb of Bellevue, someone threw a rock through the office window of Jon Seaton (search), executive director for President Bush's (search) state campaign, said Chris Vance, state GOP chairman.

Vance said two of the stolen laptops belonged to Seaton and Chris Taylor, head of the office's get-out-the-vote campaign. A third had been slated for a field office.

The computers contained much of the Bush-Cheney campaign strategy for the state and advertising schedules, Vance said.

"This looks like it was politically motivated," Vance said in an interview from the Republican party offices in Tukwila.

Bellevue police confirmed the burglary Friday afternoon but offered no support for Vance's claims about motive.

"No evidence at the scene indicated this was politically motivated," police spokeswoman Jessamyn Poling said.

State Democratic Party spokeswoman Kirstin Brost (search) said Democrats knew nothing about the break-in. "We think it's awful and we definitely condemn the actions of those who stole these computers" she said.

Not cool.

Even though it's undoubtably just a bunch of twats, I wish this could be traced back to the Dems somehow. The bullshit-to-comedy ratio in government has been pretty bad lately, and we could use some bumbling old white shitheads to amuse us.

Good job democrats! At least you're stealing information on a state you're already going to win so it will be a nice shot of bad publicity for the Kerry campaign and not really hurt Bush.

Guilty until proven innocent in the land of Winnow!

Winnow I find you guilty of being a complete a total fucking idiot, but of course there is enough corroborating evidence in your litany of inane posts to back that up, so I guess I don't need your method.

Laptops are among the most stolen things in the U.S., largely because they are easy to resell. If somebody can see laptops from a window, or know that laptops are left in establishments overnight, theivery often results.

Calling petty theft a politically motivated break-in (i mean come on... laptops of Washington state GOP fundraisers being important to the national race? Its not like this was the RNC national headquarters) is just stupid.

Of course this is all preliminary spewing anyway. Maybe this is a politically motivated breakin to steal sensitive information... or maybe its just something that happens every night in every large city in the U.S. Occam's razor anybody?

If they were the heads of a campaign to get people out and vote, then the bush admin probably stole them themselves. the last thing the GOP needs is actual non-special interests voting; they'd lose by a landslide. voter apathy is the only reason those fucking crooks stand a chance to get votes from anyone other than millionaires, jesus fundies, and racists.

Your opinions don't mean fucking shit.

Fact is there hasn't been an attack on our soil since 9/11.

Fact is Dow 10,192.65 NASDAQ 1,942.20 S&P 1,131.50

Fact is Saddam is out of power.

Fact is schools have to abide by stricter standards.

Fact is US security is getting better everyday.

Argue all the fuck you want. You nor Kerry, nor the media, can change the facts. You can try and make people unaware of the facts. You can try and make people forget the facts. You can try and mislead them on what the facts are. But the fact is, you can't change the facts.

You can't make Kerry be a strong principled man who has a clear specific vision positive vision of where he wants to take America. He has many deluded internationalist, hippy, peacenik bullshit utopian ideas for sure. I'll give you that.

Fact is you pussies don't know what it takes to provide safety. Fact is you pussies think if you be nice to everybody they will be nice to you. You pussies never fucking learn. No matter how many times the very animal you treat oh so fucking nice, turns around and fucking kills someone you know and/or love.....you still want to be nice.

You want your government to be just as much of a pussy as you? Go to France. Please. Get the fuck out. Stop trying to turn our strong country into a pile of shit. Take your fucked up pussified ideologies and spew it upon someone else.

Now isn't that funny.

Yes there hasn't been another attack on U.S. soil. Possibly due to Presidential leadership, possibly not. Of course there have been many attacks on soft targets overseas that effect US interests, but that's not important is it.

Dow and Nasdaq are poor monitors of economic growth. Look at job growth (non-existant), GDP (only slowly growing). The Bush tax cuts have FAILED to provide reasonable economic growth, just like every major tax cut before it.

Yeah Saddam is out of power, and we're left with a power vacuum that may soon turn into a major civil war in Iraq. We removed him from power without a realistic plan to provide a replacement security apparatus.

US schools do I have to meet stricter standards... of course those standards are based entirely upon standardized tests (which are highly biased against poor and minority students). Also, there is very little funding for schools to raise them back up to the previously mentioned standards, making the point somewhat moot. Can't make stuff better without money, just doesn't happen.

And I would argue that due to our power hungry bullying abroad, that the US is becoming MORE of a target every day, making us as unsafe as we've ever been. Hostility around the world does not make for a safe environment, even if one girds themselves with armor. Just look at Israel for how an example of how much safer policies like Bush's are. Higher security does not = safer.

That's how I see your "facts." Yes, they are all (with the exception of the security better every day) factual, but in the end they are meaningless pieces of the larger picture. What remains is that the President has failed in all his major responsibilities: international relations = the shitter, economy = the outhouse, environment = DOA.

Four more years of this? I sure as hell hope not

Yes, which have cost 1K+ lives of the invaders, and what is it now, 10K+ iraq people? And have put the country in a state bloody close to civil war. Way to go.
You can't make Kerry be a strong principled man who has a clear specific vision positive vision of where he wants to take America. He has many deluded internationalist, hippy, peacenik bullshit utopian ideas for sure. I'll give you that.
Oh yeah, i forgot how Bush is a strong principled man with specific visions. As far as i know, his only visions so far have been that hes a good president and that God made him president. Sounds awfully like every moslim priest controlled country, dont it?

Yes, Kerry got idea of international work, whic are kinda how the world work today, something Bush totally ignore. And peacenik, whats the problem with a person wanting peace? As far as i know, the only persons profiting from war are the persons making the weapons (which happens to be Bush croonies).

Fact is you pussies don't know what it takes to provide safety. Fact is you pussies think if you be nice to everybody they will be nice to you. You pussies never fucking learn. Lol, this remind me of Bowling for Columbine, that cartoon part describing americans as afraid people from europe :). As far as i know, an american person are a HELL of a lot more likely to be killed by criminals with guns that they can get because of your horrible weapon laws than by terrorists.

You want your government to be just as much of a pussy as you? Go to France. Please. Get the fuck out. Stop trying to turn our strong country into a pile of shit. Take your fucked up pussified ideologies and spew it upon someone else.
Well, as far as i know, its the leadership thats usually turning a country into a pile of shit, and the current leadership managed to ruin a HELL of a lot of work by the previous presidents.

After carefull review of the facts and considering both options, I have concluded that the subSilver (blue) theme is easier on the eyes than the VeeshanVault (pink/red) theme.

My conclusion has lead to an improvement in my ability to read up on and contribute to such important threads as this one. I hope that some of our other readers benefit from my findings.

In 1996 the government of Sudan had Osama bin Laden in their custody and offered to hand him over to the United States. Bill Clinton and his liberal cohorts elected not to take the Sudanese up on their offer. Why? Because they couldn't figure out a legal means of trying him!

Fiction...yah

In my eyes it's so radically different because an attack in america has 95% to do with ourselves and 5% with outside information, and an embassy has those numbers backwards

American embassies are indeed American soil, but their security is very dependent on the country they reside in and a lot more than on the US itself. An example is actually the embassy in Oslo which is in a very bad spot for security and would be a fairly easy target. Hence why they are working on relocating it.

it was probably the cleaning people or security at the building just stealing a laptop to sell it.

happens all the time at our company.

if they have taht information on a laptop unencrypted they are 1 million percent retarded.

or maybe Dept of Homeland Security is in charge of securing the election headquarters.

Why not? Since they have building access, they'd know what's in it. Plus, they make people like you immediately look at someone besides them as the perpetrators. I mean, if they have building access, why break the windows? So it must not have been them, right?

This reminds me of a funny story at my University.

A friend of mine had several work computers stolen from their laboratory. They were a tad specialized, as they were set up as the computer for certain instruments. Anyway, the next week he was surfing e-bay to find replacement computers (his boss is a cheapskate) and came across the two computers that were stolen being sold by the same person, who's e-mail happened to be at our university. He called up the cops and they went and busted this guys dorm room, which was full of stuff he'd lifted from labs and was reselling on e-bay... with his REAL e-mail address.

Think he copped a plea bargain so he didn't serve time, but damn everybody was laughing for weeks about it.

Technically, the embasies are American soil.
Literally I would agree, but we know that protecting american soil and american embassies is nothing alike
Wasnt the World Trade Center on American soil Im talking about the first bombing.
yes, that would be the 1.... and if 9/11 is clintons fault, WTC is Bush Sr's, and I still say embassies are american soil in legality but they are not when you are speaking of security

Fact is Saddam is out of power.

Fact is schools have to abide by stricter standards.

Fact is US security is getting better everyday.

I know that the nevada headquarters in Las Vegas (which I am about to head out to) doesn't have much more then voter registration and numbers and addresses of current voters. This is something anyone can buy.

The laptops are hidden in a hotel room somewhere... and will be "found" about a week before the election.

happens all the time at our company.

if they have taht information on a laptop unencrypted they are 1 million percent retarded.

or maybe Dept of Homeland Security is in charge of securing the election headquarters.
I live in Bellevue so I've heard a few things maybe others haven't. Apparently the laptops stolen were not out in the open but were tucked away in back offices, and the thieves walked past several other valuable items (including other laptops) to specifically seek out and take those 3. No information was "lost" since it was all backed up in other places. Was definitely not just a burglary though.

If that was true they would sure win my vote just on the hilarity factor of it.
