NEW YORK (Reuters) - Part of the Patriot Act, a central plank of the Bush Administration's war on terror, was ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge on Wednesday.
Yet again a significant portion of this POS is found to be unconstitutional...

You're operating under the assumption that the Bush administration, or neocons in general, gives a shit about the constitution.

The constitution, like the bible, is a prop to be used when it supports your narrow point of view, and either discarded or altered when it does not.

About freakin time that this steaming loaf of a law was knocked down by the courts.

Little known fact: The USA PATRIOT Act actually is an acronym!

Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism

Though, its actual name had something to do with President Bush's plan to dissolve the Republic and under emergency situations (which he manipulated behind the scenes) field a massive army of replaceable soldiers and declare himself Emperor over an Empire which he would rule with an iron fist and dark magicks...oh wai

Tip of the Iceberg where this legislation is concerned. Over time a lot more of it will be struck. The nice thing about this is that the Bush team will no longer be able to say that "The is not one instance of PATRIOT being used inappropriately." Or rather, I should rephrase. The nice thing is that the Bush team will no longer be able to truthfully say... Since I am quite certain they will continue to claim it.

Actually you are operating under the assumption that any major party politician gives a fuck about the constitution. My democrat Mayor doesn't, and neither did congress when they voted almost completely in favor of the Patriot act.

The Patriot Act is a pile of garbage not suited for any country whatsoever. Good to see this finally happening.

Can you reasonably think that allowing the government to secretly search financial and other records, without ANY form of legal recourse, keeps us any safer?

If you do, I have some nice land in Florida to sell you... err... make that Mississippi so your vote doesn't matter any.
