The report shows that of the 32 states (and the District of Columbia) that are "winners" -- receiving more in federal spending than they pay in federal taxes -- 76% are Red States that voted for George Bush in 2000. Indeed, 17 of the 20 (85%) states receiving the most federal spending per dollar of federal taxes paid are Red States

Now DC's numbers are insane but also inflated beyond belief because DC is...DC so you can pretty much toss that out. Interesting numbers

Those lists are essentially the top and bottom 10 states in terms of population.

I find WV"s placement on that intersting, I wasn't aware we recieved that much federal aid.

You would have a hard time convincing me that Conn, New Hampshire, Mass and minn are anywhere near top 10 population, keep shooting tho

Sure there are a few anomalies, but my conclusion is no more or less accurate than the repub/democrat conclusion drawn from the same data.
