A forum where you could actually comment in a post without the legions of trolls attacking it, derailing it, and otherwise polluting the mix of it with half snide - half stupid comments to engage in honest to all discussion?

Don't see a reason for it. I post here expecting my opinions to be dissected and attacked; the more stupid responses I can filter out mentally.

What you are talking about has nothing to do (or litle to do) with flames. It has to do with moderation to delete/move off topic posts. FF won't really help things stay on topic, they'll just stop people from flaming.

You can use Modding or something. I wholeheartedly encourage you to go there in fact, I promise to stay out.

Nerp...would have no interest in it...Active political/philosophical debate often includes questioning the veracity/bias/coherence of ideas of the individual presenting information...Many here would regard that as sniping...Hell, I have seen simple disagreement termed flaming...My policy toward debate will always be:

If ya can't stand the heat...Stay out of the oven...

When people disagree things get hot...'s the nature of the beast...

Making clear I voted no and don't support the idea here of FF or Moderation. I was just noting the the proposed solution did nothing or little to fix the percieved problem.

Dont really see a reason for it. Most of the people in there ARE mature and well-formulated people that can talk without flaming each other.
And then we got 4 or 5 people who are total morons and cant listen to reason in any form, which are usually the cause of the flame threads.

BUT if you removed them, or their flames, there wouldnt really be any discussion, since everyone would agree on stuff if they were gone, and if they just had to keep it FF they couldnt put a coherent post together anyway.

If a certain thread warrants it just make it FF... otherwise it's fun to bicker about nonsense sometimes :)

Yes. Oh very much, yes.

The idea that people would think they could express any opinion on a view-by-choice message board is just shocking and repugnant.

When someone openly and honestly expresses their belief that they're morally and technically superior to those in the middle east, one should stay on topic and not resort to questioning their parentage, or the lead content of their water supply.

WTF kind of stupid ass argument is this?

If someone has the stupidity to express a belief that they are morally superior to anyone in the middle east and hang it under a flame free thread, they should, by the forum's own standards, get suspended just for that.

Hence, the best reason for no FF bullshit that let pussy neocons molest their sacred cows in private without scruitiny - one person's "off limits" topic is someone else's idea of a burning question that needs discussion.

LOL, yes I know. Thankfully, I'm not running for office.

I'm doing pretty good I guess. Just trying to pay the bills and keep the kids and wife as happy as I can. How's life for you? Send me a PM, I wouldn't want to derail this gripping thread.

Politics is all about disagreement. I am not really a huge fan of debate, but I cannot see a 'political' forum where nobody was allowed to speak their mind in either an intelligent or abusive manner.

It is what it is and civil discussion can only really take place consistantly when people have a like mind. VV is not that place. ;)
