Let's play Chess

Post by Marbus »

While some people on this board may not even play I thought this was something to think about. Who would win? You have already voted, please let me know why you choose what you did. Note I got this idea from reading the post about Kerrys wife's speech today.

Unfortunately for Edwards, a pretty face and a firm backside don't translate to W's in chess. I'll take McCain for the win.

I bet Edwards and McCain are the only 2 on that list that actually know how to play chess. I can just picture Bush asking Dick 'uhhh, what's the horsey do?'.

Smart money is on McCain. :)

be a close call between McCain, Kerry, and Cheney

Edwards wouldnt do so hot in a competitive game like that, and although Bush is competitive and loves war, hes a fucking idiot and would have to read the rules for two hours before he could play a valid game

Nah tempers can be used against them in a chess game.

I'd say Clark.. but of those on the list McCain most likely.

We should have voted for him in the primarys, he would be handing Bush his ass at this point in time, Wes Clark vs GW would put Regan/Mondale to shame
Although i guess when its all said and done with Kerry winning, we will be in better shape overall.

GW Bush - Good at evasion
John Kerry - doesn't know how to go on the offensive
John McCain - a solid choice but wouldn't make it to the finals
Howard Dean - would screech and throw the board in the air if he lost a piece
John Edwards - would look good playing but lose
Dick Cheney - nice combination of offense and defense.

I pick Cheney.

Let's face it, not only would Cheney win, he'd end up with a 3 year, 700 billion dollar chess contract for Haliburton too.

Alternatively:

Bush would opt out of the chess tournament and instead join the checkers circuit but still miss his match.

Kerry would try to marry the queen, chip a nail moving the first pawn of the game and have to leave the match early on a TKO but not before asking for a chessmaster certificate.

GW Bush - Places the King on his head, hides behind the rooks, peeking out occasionally and going "I seeeee you!!", looks to his knights for advice, flings the pawns about the room, forgets the queen, and cuddles up with the bishops.

John Kerry - Never gets past the first move, because he can't decide which piece to back and keeps changing his mind.

John McCain- Prefers to play the role of arbiter.

Howard Dean- Rants about how he can take every chess champion that ever lived, bites into a Slim Jim, gives a bloodthirsty yell and flips the table.

John Edwards- Chases down the makers of chess sets everywhere and files lawsuits, driving the entire chess industry out of the US.

Dick Chaney- Knows how to manipulate the board, keeps a few extra pawns up his sleeve, and anyone who challenges him can fuck off. This corporate muffin gets my vote.

Well, Dean is supposed to be at WVUP today, with an estimated 500 invitees (That's, oh, about half of a daily attendance at WVUP); they've closed off HALF of the parking lot space available, and a good section of the campus. Yet they're keeping classes open.

Points lost for a major inconvience..

Cheney.

I like McCain and as a leader, I would take him over any of the others in this "tourney", but I think Cheney has already demonstrated his ability to win by the fact that he is arguably the most influential person in your country right now, whereas McCain couldn't keep the wolves at bay 4 years ago when he ran against Bush Jr.

Here's what Al Gore's campaign manager said 2 weeks ago about George W. Bush:
By Donna Brazile
Newsweek
Updated: 1:52 a.m. ET Aug. 29, 2004 - It’s hard to travel across the country these days without seeing an old familiar bumper sticker: “Somewhere in Texas, a village is missing its idiot.” Perhaps the slogan rang true for many progressive voters in this highly partisan, highly charged and highly polarized electorate. But, if the bumper-sticker crowd believes it refers to George W. Bush, they are sorely mistaken.

Sen. John Kerry can win this election by understanding that he is running against a shrewd, clever and an extremely intelligent opponent who was trained in political combat by the late GOP strategist Lee Atwater.

I honestly have no idea where you picked up your debate techniques, Metanis.
You draw the most fucked up conclusions/opinions from thin air. Kelshara has never ever made any comments even remotely sexist or racist.... but you throw out an implication that he is sexist and/or racist.

What he was trying to say is that usually, the term "kicking someone's ass" is reserved for people who win by a big margin.

Example of kicking ass. The Cubs beat the Pirates 13 - 5.
Example of not kicking ass. Team Canda beating Finland 3 -2.

I see your point, but consider the Cubs are going to play what? 180 games this year? Bush won something a shitload more valuable. A game that has only 1 match every 4 years.

But I'll concede the this point... I'm still waiting for Miir and Kelshara to explain why they totally ignore a successful black woman's perception that Bush is extremely intelligent.... even after they asked me for proof of his intelligence.

I'm not holding my breath however, because I know they are using the classic pussy liberal tactic of ignoring facts that don't fit their tiny little minds.

I already commetned on it. The statement she made said that if he was to win the election, and I read that as an election committee vs election committee. It really isn't a candidate vs candidate election, if it was they would have daily unscripted debates (which I am all for).

And wtf does the fact that it was a black woman have to do with anything? An opinion is just that and weighs no more or less wether it is a black woman or an indian male or whatever.
