I've only ever STFU'd two people on these forums. One was Cartalas a few days ago, and the other was Midnyte a minute or two afterward. I've found that I very rarely gain anything from reading their posts. I don't necessarily think that they should be banned, but I do wish that the portion of this board that is actually interested in civil conversation and discussion (especially conservatives like Adex and Krimson and Akaran and so on) would just ignore them. There are certainly liberals who make posts that are similar in theme to what Mid and Cart post, but I find that Midnyte tends to drown out all the rest of the conservative voices, while Kyoukan's flames are generally supplemented by reasonable arguments from either her or other liberals on the board.

Please tell me what 'alternate viewpoints' are being expressed in his constant, one-liner, profanity laden, personal attacks.
This has nothing to do with political leanings, partisan politics or current events discussion.

It's about one childish poster who successfully derails virtually every decent thread into namecalling and personal attacks.


I don't agree with most of the 'pro Bush' posters on this forum but I would never encourage 'silencing' them for expressing their political viewpoints. You guys make this forum so much more interesting and entertaining.


What I do find conterproductive is a certain poster whos posts are 95% one liners that are completely devoid of any opinion. Calling someone 'fat' or a 'cunt' and telling them to 'fuck off' is nothing but the babblings of an immature, childish person who only wants attention. Trolling and baiting are fine if you accasionally contribute, but when someones post history is dominated by trolling/baiting, it's easy to see that they contribute nothing of value.

Some individual forums have stricter posting guidelines than others. I don't think heavy handed moderation is the answer, I think that staying somewhat on topic (even when flaming someone) shows consideration for your fellow posters.

Flaming someone based on their opinions and comments is encouraged here. Obsessive flaming of someones physical appearance, personal attacks based on gender and childish insults about sexual orentation shouldn't be encouraged or tolerated.

I don't think just because you happen to disagree with someones posting style, viewpoint, or the fact that they are even drawing breath that you should be able to get them banned from the forum. That sets a dangerous precedent, even if they do have an IQ of 55.
