Navistar is a major player in the heavy truck manufacturing industry. It was spun off from Case/International Harvester following the two companies' merger in the 80's. Case/IHC is a major manufacturer of heavy construction and farm equipment.Voronwë wrote:i hope for their sake Navistar makes more than just this vehichle, cause otherwise their company isn't going to last too long.

From a recent Navistar press release...Voronwë wrote:i hope for their sake Navistar makes more than just this vehichle, cause otherwise their company isn't going to last too long.
They had a net income of $56 million last quarter, I think they'll be alright considering they only plan to make 50 of these trucks per year, which would amount to about $5 million, or about 2 percent of their projected annual net income.Navistar International Corporation (NYSE:NAV), the nation's largest combined commercial truck, school bus and mid-range diesel engine producer...<snipped for brevity>

The article doesn't even reference if it can actually offroad in any way shape or form. If not, than all it has is flatbed capacity and towing capacity. The latter of which wasn't given either.
Hell, at least the H2 is an excellent offroad vehicle even if it's a noisy draining ride after 15 minutes. This also isn't going to even come anywhere near the northeast or california if it isn't a commercial vehicle due to pollution regs.

Net income or revenue? Sounds like revenue which is a huge frikken differenceI think they'll be alright considering they only plan to make 50 of these trucks per year, which would amount to about $5 million, or about 2 percent of their projected annual net income.

I'm guessing that you generally don't see them offroading... because you usually aren't offroading?
I find the argument that people with SUVs never go offroading a bit silly because most people who make that aren't ever offroading themselves.
I've never actually seen an astronaut in outer space!

Friend of mine at school has a daddy warbucks who bought him an H2 that he takes off roading every weekend.
Gone out with him twice into the Brooksville area to ride.
However, most of the H2's I see are immaculate. Normally some soccer mom or a guy with a really small dick driving it. If not, it's a promotional vehichle since the tax exemption practically pays for the truck.

No crap. A buddy of mine had several Scouts back in my high school daze. Those things were like the Timex watches of off-roading! I liked the original short Scout the best. It was like driving a baby tank.Tenuvil wrote:Why not just buy a truck tractor and be done with it?
Personally, I'd like to see Navistar bring back the grandaddy of all SUVs: the Scout. Couldn't kill those fuckers.

Given the fact that this THING is based off of a dump truck chassis, I'm going to hazard a guess that its off road capabilities are less than stellar.

I would put those all in the top 5. Those old Broncos were pretty sweet as well. They are actually suppose to be making a new one too
will probably suck though.
I would think that the old LR Defenders might be the best but never got to test one myself so out of what I have driven, the scout wins.

That statement being what? "I'm an ignorant peice of shit that couldn't care less about the environment or the growing oil crisis around the world! Oh and my penis is so devistatingly small that this is the only way I can feel like a man.""It's not going to fit into the standard garage," said Mark Oberle, a spokesman for Navistar, based in Warrenville, Ill., outside Chicago. "We can see it as a vehicle for business people who want to make a distinct impression. For personal use, it's for people who want to make a statement."
It should be a felony crime against environment to to drive this thing this shameless gas-guzzling peice of shit without a specific business liscense.
