Those peaceful Muslims are at it again...
Certainly smallpox ravaged the population. But the fact that Cortez barricaded a large portion of the Mexica empire in Tenochtitlan-- after the death of Montezuma-- was equally destructive at that time. Due to their total lack of food and drinking water and their inability to leave the city without getting killed, thousands of Mexica died. Some of these deaths were due to smallpox and some of them would have occured anyway, but the spread of smallpox was greatly facilitated by the barricade and many died of starvation, malnutrition, or violence.
Why don't you try reading some history you fucking ignoramus.
Edit to add: The Spaniards were aware of smallpox and used it as a weapon.

What the fuck does this have to do with Jello?Sueven wrote:Certainly smallpox ravaged the population. This thread has reached its bigotry saturation. Let's talk about jello.
I think that less deaths have been done in the name of jello than in the name of Islam.
Discuss.
fuck that Bill Cosby has caused a lot of deaths.
How many are we talking about here? Can you quote some figures??!Cartalas wrote:fuck that Bill Cosby has caused a lot of deaths.

Man... what a thread...
The point Miir, Kelshara, I and others have been trying to point out is that ANY religion (heh or strong political group for that matter - so we can include communism) can be used as an excuse to kill people.
About 1000 years into Christanity, then again 1500 years into it, the Bible was used to Kill a LOT of people. Is that TRULY what the Bible teaches? DUH, of course not, it was all motivated by the demand for power by a few playing on the ignorance and fear of the uneducated masses.
Now that Islam is about 1500 year old (I personally see a patter here) some Islamic fundamentalists are using similar methods to justify murder as well. Once again, it NOT the teachings of Islam but a misinterpertation of some in power to minipulate the uneducated masses in order to keep them in power.
There IS NO DIFFERENCE!
As a Christian I know that I can go to the Bible and pick apart verses, take things out of contex and justify ANYTHING I want to do and say it's God's will. As I Christian I also believe that God strictly forbids this, but as we know from history, many people have done it in the past. I choose not to.
The same goes for most Muslims. Sure some freaks do it but it's not what Allah would want or is taught in the Koran... unless you misinterpert the meaning.
That's the bottom line, there is no arguement, there is no other view that is correct.

For the record, Met, I find the fact that you liked Ghost Dad more disturbing than any of your political views.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .
Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."
