I guess Gabe didn't learn shit from having his source code stolen. You'd think Valve's security, passwords, etc. would be airtight by now, but apparently, Gabe Newell actually is a fucking tool: http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/08/27 ... 06035.html
Gamers who went to bed Friday night with visions of crowbars dancing in their heads awoke to a rude surprise Saturday morning when Half-Life 2 Fallout posted the following news bit:
"After a close scrutiny of Gabe Newell's account history on the forums, we've come to the conclusion that the gold post is a fake... After one crazy night of theories, server mayhem, and IP tracing, we've finally gotten to the bottom of this mess. In a twist of hilarity, it seems that Gabe Newell's account password was set to 'gaben.' Person x guessed this and made the "going gold on Monday" post, which we've heard so much about. The user (who we believe is the same person x) then made this post just minutes ago using Gabe's account:
Maybe he shouldn't have used 'gaben' for his password. Come on Gabe, you could of [sic] thought of something better than that.
After a quick double-check, it seems that this was exactly what happened."
Valve deserves whatever they get. Granted this is just his forum password, but seriously...
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.
Wow, that is pretty pathetic. That hacker singlehandedly probably ruined Valve as a company. There's no chance I'd make a deal with them like ATI had to distribute HL2 with new cards again. ATI looks like idiots to their customers who have been holding onto vouchers for HL2 for the past 6+ months.
Goodness me. The man must be one of the bush intelligence postings
Seriously tho, that's stupid as shit.
Akaran of Mistmoore, formerly Akaran of Veeshan I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.
