Olympic Marathon (Men's)

Anybody else able to catch this? Poor Brazilian guy (leading the race at the time) getting tackled by a dressed up audience member. He probably wasn't going to win anyway, but it was very surreal watching it.

I'm glad the Brazilian got the bronze at least.

Didn't see it but watched replay.. I sure hope the spectator who peeled the guy off the Brazilian gave him a few quick jabs. Asstards like that deserves a beating. Sucks to get your rythm and concentration ruined while running.

The least the IOC could do was subtract the time from when the runner first noticed the crazed psycho, and the time when he got back in to stride. Probably 30 seconds.

It would not have mattered in the medal distribution I don't think...but atleast it would show that the IOC isn't a bunch of dumbasses, incapable of decisions.

The sad thing is this psycho has done it before in a Grand Prix race - wouldn't you think he would be banned from sports after doing this once? and now twice?

In July 2003, Horan, wearing a similar costume, ran onto the track during the British Grand Prix and stayed there for more than 20 seconds, forcing racers to swerve around him.

Yah that was the F1 race I talked about. Hard to ban someone from a marathon though..

I did like watching the replay of all the fans that rushed the guy when they got near the fan border. Thank god the fans were capable enough to not trample the brazilian in their craze to kill that guy!

They showed the video of the crazy guy running on the track during the F1 race on ESPN last night. It would have been cool to see him hit as he said god was protecting him and that would have been a great advertisement for atheism but on the other hand, whoever hit him would probably be scarred for life. Tough call.

Feh, as a runner, the breaking of rhythm is a big deal. Not sure about the specefics in this case, nor do I care (because it's all nonsense these days)

Yeah, I actually just got done with a 5 mile run with my friend before I saw this live. I can't believe it when I saw it... Any interruption running 26 consecutive 5 minute miles is a pretty big fucking problem. I'm kinda glad the guy from the US didn't take gold because it wouldn't make us look any better than we do now. I'm sorry but I think the protestors nuts should be taken out for ruining his years of training to get the gold.
