About timeIt took a few years and lots of negotiations, and now "Seinfeld" is finally making it to DVD. The pilot episode and first three seasons of the show about nothing will be ready in time for the holiday shopping season. Individual releases will contain 12 hours of antics by Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer. Commentary by cast members, deleted scenes and never-aired stand-up footage by JERRY SEINFELD will be among the extras.

I know that I am pretty much in the minority here but I really never liked that show. The people all seemed shallow and self absorbed. Not really a good reason not to like it considering there is so much of that out there but I just could never enjoy watching it. Sometimes I'd catch part of it while I was doing something and found myself recognizing parts because everyone else had been talking about it a year before. Just not my show I guess.
Only about two months too late. Use the search!Sylvus wrote:http://www.veeshanvault.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9967
you should bump the old thread next time!
Much

Although I can understand why not everyone likes the show. Luckily I do! It's just weird how many 'Seinfeld moments' one can have during a day.

I didn't enjoy it either. I loved "Friends" though. /shrugBubba Grizz wrote:I know that I am pretty much in the minority here but I really never liked that show. I never cared for it either. I just never bought into the characters. Jerry mugs an old woman for a loaf of bread? Some soup is so good you have to lose all dignity as a human being to eat it? Seemed stupid to me.Bubba Grizz wrote:I know that I am pretty much in the minority here but I really never liked that show. The people all seemed shallow and self absorbed. Too often it seems it is the peaceful and innocent who are slaughtered. In this a lesson may be found that it may not be prudential to be either too peaceful or too innocent. One does not survive with wolves by becoming a sheep.

Do you buy into Simpsons characters or Family Guy characters?Mak wrote:I never cared for it either. I just never bought into the characters. Jerry mugs an old woman for a loaf of bread? It's a comedy that pokes fun at things.

Not everyone gets it. If you're one of those that doesn't it's OK! Not everyone likes everything. I personally hated Friends and am glad that show is gone.

BTW, Seasons 1-3 came out on Tuesday. Best Buy has Seasons 1-2 (together) on sale for $30 and Season 3 for $30 as well. I think regular price was $50, so if you're interested you should probably purchase them this week. Also a gift set with all three seasons and some other stuff for $80. But I'm still undecided on if that's worth $20 extra or not.

Seeing as how this was bumped. I love the Simpsons and Family Guy but I still don't like Seinfeld. Don't ask me why though. I know they are the same category of comedy situation but oh well.Winnow wrote:They're comedies.Mak wrote:Those are cartoons, right?Winnow wrote:Do you buy into Simpsons characters or Family Guy characters?
funninesses: A comic incident or series of incidents
On a side note I swear I saw Julia and her boyfriend Brad at the time in a porn movie with Ron Jeremy. I have been hunting for that one forever.

Seinfeld, especially his stand up is just not funny. I just don't think him pointing out obvious every day shit is funny..
Example-
Seinfeld: I mean, the sky is blue, whats up with that?
Not that he has said that specifically but he is terrible. The only good part of the show is kramer. That guy is fucking hilarious

Agreed. I thought that Elaine, George and Kramer were all much MUCH better than Jerry himself. Jerry was just the glue that held everything together.Funkmasterr wrote:Seinfeld, especially his stand up is just not funny. I just don't think him pointing out obvious every day shit is funny..

$30 for the episodes alone would have been worth it...
However, I am a bit disappointed in the special features of the first two sets. Outtakes are scarce. Deleted scenes? Maybe 1 for each episode. They had to have a lot more sitting around. Commentary? Not every episode has commentary. It's like, maybe 10 episodes from the first three seasons have commentary. The Jerry/Larry commentary is lame. Most of the time they are silent watching the show. The Jason/Julia/Michael commentaries are a little better but pretty slow at times.

Yeah, I guess we've been spoiled by Simpsons. They don't have many instances of dead air during their commentaries. I think the problem is a lot of times the people doing the commentaries are seeing the episode for the first time ater many years.Lynks wrote:I found that commentaries usually are bad from any series, except for the Simpsons, its non stop for them and hilarious.
Anyway, final analysis is that it's worth buying. But don't get too excited about some of the special features as they are a bit sparse.
